I have an MSI P65 8RD.
When connecting an HDMI cable and selecting 'Duplicate' the following happens
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1hWjpZ9cHfdjhtHWsnr6jhD9w2HwCjlIZ/view?usp=sharing
Every 15 seconds or so the mouse freezes then disapears for a couple of seconds, the laptop screen goes black for a couple of seconds. The same thing happens on the monitor connected to the HDMI.
Refresh install hasb ben done, all drivers automatically installed , then also tried the drivers from MSI's website.
Same thing with a different (also working) HDMI cable and monitor.
Dedicated (1070 Ti) and built in graphics are both detected and listed as working.
Any kind of tests I can do here to find out what the problem is (presumably with the dedicated GPU)?

The driver I have installed is 472.12 latest from nVidia website.
This is what happens when checking the load and temps with GPUz (running as an administrator):
https://drive.google.com/file/d/125_cDl6lf9O9KdyKDKDYZz9UbBn4-sh_/view?usp=sharing
Sensors in GPUz get data for a few seconds (temperatues, loads, etc.) then nothing. I get a notification that GPU-Z has been blocked from accessing the graphics card.Last edited: Oct 1, 2021 -

Three different installations of windows have been tried. (21H1) 19043.928 is the current one.
DISM and SFC complete. SFC found corrupt files and repaired them. Restart complete. SFC scan is now clean.
Windows Update is complete.
Have previously tried two other GPU drivers (the driver automatically installed with windows, and the driver on the MSI website)
When PC is running, the power light is white, which indicated integrated graphics mode is running. Monitoring the load on dGPU using windows resource montior, I can see that it remains at zero, even when running videos using edge browser.
When I use windows settings to force dedicated GPU for VLC media player, then play a video using VLC, the light turns orange (indicating dedicated GPU mode for this laptop). However, in VLC the video does not playback correctly (sounds plays correctly for whole video, and first image frame loads correctly when opening, but the image does not change). During this time load in resource monitor on the dedicated dGPU remains zero.
The temperature reading doesn't go above 55.
Inserting HDMI cable then switching to 'duplicate screen' causes multiple spikes in the dGPU load (100%, 0%, 100%, 0%). It has also caused two BSD:

1050 TI ,.no 1070
https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials...-accelerated-gpu-scheduling-windows-10-a.html
this disable + variable refresh rate "if exist"
win 19043 ,.is latest 1266build or 1237 stable
try last chipset drivers
Intel Chipset Device Software Version 10.1.18836.8283 WHQL

last bios / ec
the other is the hw problem "here is the chip on the mobo d-gpu"
,, it's not an easy fix!
edit
and why are you hiding SUBSYSTEM ID ??
you need in best identical ID for DEVICE / SUBSYSTEM for correct vbios
and this VEN / DEV look looks the opposite ?? your custom vbios ??Last edited: Oct 2, 2021Califauna likes this. -
nvlfash + cmd
NVFLASH64 --version
here verify real info for bios / if exist recovery

Bios is updated, chipset update with your link has now been tried. Variable refresh rate option does not appear.
I don't know what you mean here:

send more info from NVFLASH ,,sometimes exists recovery on gpuCalifauna likes this. -
Do you mean recovery of the bios?
What info do you need from NVFLASH to know if recovery of the bios is possible?
Will reflashing bios void the warranty? -
NVFLASH64 --version
send only info ,,.not flash ,.,.,.must determine GPU problem !
,.,.hwdefect is impossible repair in NVFLASH
but some info look weird - send this screen from NVFLASH "PM ?" full info !!Califauna likes this. -
try AFTERBURNER and negative OC
determine HWproblem / or only POWER PROBLEM .,or VBIOS support for BOOST clock
but this need small skill
and still you need fully working igpu ?? / d-gpu - OPTIMUS
igpu drivers works fully ??Califauna likes this. -
iGPU seem to work OK. The iGPU test in GPUz gives normal temperatures, 1.065v, 8.6 watts, 1050 Mhz. It renders correctly. All software works fine when laptop is in iGPU mode (white power light).
Underclocking does not fix problem. Connecting HDMI has same effect and the same results from GPUz when testing. Jumps to 1506Mhz (GPU) and 3499Mhz (memory) when loaded up, then they drops to 607 and 405 Mhz after 3 seconds and stay there.
When using Afterburner to lock the GPU at 1303Mhz and Memory at 3499Mhz, the video plays back correctly, but connecting with HDMI cable results in same behavior as before ( screen on and off, system hanging) and running GPUz tests results in the same behavior (a series of load spikes then a system message that GPUz has been blocked from accessing hardware).
The details of the bios are: Sign-On Message : GP106 E2914 SKU 30 VGA BIOS IFR Subsystem ID : Blank Subsystem Vendor ID : 0x1462 Subsystem ID : 0x1244 Version : 86.06.6F.00.2B Product Name : GP106 Board Device Name(s) : GeForce GTX 1050 Ti Board ID : 0x005D Vendor ID : 0x10DE Device ID : 0x1C21 Hierarchy ID : Normal Board Chip SKU : 730-M Project : 2914-0030 Build Date : 06/01/18 Modification Date : 08/19/18
The chip is this one by the looks of it:
