    hello,
first off im a new-bee. About a week ago i almost got suckered into paying a computer repair shop to upgrade my laptop for about $600. $200 of that was for a new battery. . . . . . . .needless to say im not that stupid now.

i have a MSI MS-1722 running windows 7, 4gb ram and 120 HDD drive. as far as video card its what ever came with the laptop.

my question is what can i do to upgrade this old timer? i bought it back in 2009 and it has not only survived a deployment to the sand box and many other close calls. but its become sentimental now, i dont game on it. i bought it with one thing in mind "HD porn". now that part of my life has passed and i now need something more modern for work and school.

I have been looking into the Samsung 850 pro SSD drives and looking into upgrading the ram its still at 4gb stock.
what is the maximum ram that i can install to this thing and is there a better SSD drive than the Samsung 850 pro?

also is there any other upgrades or general maintenance i am over looking? its already 7 years old and still running on stock everything.
