    Hello,

I own the MSI MS-1722 and I saw that one of the devices in device manager is a Cir IR receiver (if im not mistaken). Now my question is how to make it work with a remote like this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/Dell-Studio-1535-1536-1735-LAPTOP-REMOTE-CONTROL-NU853_W0QQitemZ170319831180QQcmdZViewItemQQptZPCA_Mice_Trackballs?hash=item170319831180&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1234%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318%7C301%3A1%7C293%3A1%7C294%3A50
Im asking this because the MS-1722 doesnt have any media buttons on the laptop and with a remote i would be able to control it from a distamce :D

That is a media center remote and should work out of the box w/ no problems. If your using Vista Home Premium or Ultimate you can use it with Media Center as well.
The sensor is in front of the laptop on the edge in the center, its kinda hard to see, especially if your not looking for it.
I have been looking for a MCE remote as well, and that one you linked has me thinking, it will fit nicely in just about any laptop case unlike my Sony MCE Remote.

hmm..ok..yes indeed you are right about it fitting nicely in the laptop..makes it easy to carry around and won't lose it very quickly.
but could it also work with windows xp?..or do i need xp with media center edition also.
I never did quite understand what media center edition is. my guess it's just a program that let's you run your movies and music via their nice interface.
    am i right?

It wont actually fit inside the laptop, it is a 54mm Card and you only have a 32mm slot. It will fit nicly in a laptop bag/backpak compared to a standard size remote.

It should work fine in XP, you will have control of volume and track selection, not sure about what else. cant really tell what buttons is even on the remote, its alot less than a standard MCE remote however but the basics are there I am sure.

No you can install a TV-Tuner which isn't sold with a remote, this remote will work with any TV-TUNER.

I got this one with a different TV-TUNER installed.
