    I have a MS-1722 with a Intel P8400 CPU.

    The original flashed BIOS is 1.0H. It recognizes the P8400 as 2.26GHz. However, the Ratio is shown as 6.5 Actual and 8.5 MAX. The multi should be 8.5 Actual for the CPU to operate @ 2.26GHz.

    CPUZ shows the CPU operating @ 1596MHz, multiplier x6. Memtest+ also shows the CPU @ 1596MHz.

    Windows shows the CPU operating @ 2.26Ghz in General System Properties.

    I don't know which one to believe? I am leaning toward CPUZ reporting accurately.

    I have contacted MSI Tech asking about the available updated 1.0M BIOS and if it will correct the above issue. MSI replied that the updated 1.0M BIOS is for additional Quad CPU support, they did not comment if it would address the P8400 issue.

    I don't want to flash my BIOS if I do not have to. Does anyone have any additional information about the 1.0M BIOS update?

    To make sure you really disabled it, open CPU-Z and do something that stresses your cpu

    Yes, I did.

    SpeedStep is disabled. Power Scheme is "Always On".

    Windows shows 2.26GHz in General System Properties.

    CPUZ shows 1596MHz x6 multi. I ran Orthos and CPUZ showed it throttled to 2.26GHz x8.5 mutli.

    So, if SpeedStep is disabled and I have no power management enabled, why is the CPU throttling?

    @MDDI,

    Load default settings for the BIOS.
    Update to BIOS version 1.0M and EC version 4.25.
    If you are using Windows XP disable AHCI in the BIOS.
    For Windows Vista Load default settings for the BIOS and just install or run Vista.

    Greatz
