Okay, so are these things the same? As in, is the 16F2 just a barebone version of the GT683R?
Also how is the PowerPro R 11:36

Any owners out there that want to let me know about the battery, weight, screen quality, heat, build quality, MSI customer service, and such?
Is this a suitable laptop for a college student?

    Thanks in advance!

Weight: Quite heavy (3.15kg) for a 15" machine
Battery: Not at optimus levels but still around 4-5 hours
Screen quality: Depends on what panel you get, I got LG which is not the brightest and is quite sensitive to vertical movement but provides better sideways angles.
    Heat: What heat? Lol.
Build quality: Nothing amazing but still solid.
MSI customer service: Couldn't tell you as I have not tried.

The 16F2 has none of the red highlights or orange lights. No turbo button or fan speed max button, but you can OC yourself and the fans do a good job on their own.

Ah, that was very helpful thank you :D, I see that you have the Intel 6300 Wireless card, does that make a huge difference over the other options? Also where did you get your barebone from and what is LG screen, as in the brand?

The PowerPro R 11:36 is just what PowerNotebooks.com called the 16F2, they are the same machine. Yes the 16F2 is a barebone version of the GT660/680 series. Same internal components, but missing some outer features as Meaker has described. Of course the benefit is that its around $200 cheaper than a similarly specced GT660/680.

The GT680 series is coming with a Geforce 570m and I'm hoping the 16F2 can get that option soon! :D

Even thought they are identical internally, they do use different BIOS from what I've heard.

I got mine off ebay, but people with representatives on this forum is probably a safe bet.

Yes the screen is LG (the brand), there are AUO panels too and one or two others, each have their strengths and weaknesses.

The 6300 wireless is nice and I notice a signal strength increase, just note that if you get the barebones, unless you buy it with the 6300 and they fit an extra aerial, by default it only comes with 2 so you will have to add the extra one yourself.

Does the 16F2 support pc3-10600 memory? Because I just ordered some. Also would the OCZ Agility 3 SSD work well with the MSI 16F2?
And how does the GTX 560m compare to the desktop Radeon HD5770?

Just look for review of PowerPro 11:36 on this forum. There are couple of them here on the forum. Yes it supports type of memory you mentioned, it's 1333MHz memory. Just look for benchmarks of GTX560M at notebookcheck.net and reviews on the forum and compare it with HD5770, however they should perform very near to each other. You can always contact resellers here on the forums to clarify all questions. I have ordered mine from PowerNotebooks. I can recommend them as very reliable reseller. Donald was very helpfull, all my 100+ e-mails were answered very fast. Their support is very nice too.

The memory support is dependant on the CPU.

1333 support is standard, then 2630QM and above support 1600mhz.

I believe bluetooth is integrated into the notebook already so it doesn't matter which card you choose, now, anyone know if the OCZ Agility 3 would work well on this laptop?

I believe the best series of SSDs for this notebook are the M4s.

Can anyone confirm that the ms-16f2-id1 does in fact come with the dynaudio speakers? I have seen some conflicting information, and the MSI whitebook site only calls out two 2w speakers and subwoofer.

    MSI Notebook Product Specifications

    Thanks!

Yes 16F2 has the same DynAudio speakers setup as all GX/GT series do.

Meaker, why you have a 150W PSU?? In powernotebooks it says 120W, is that correct? Or is just bad advertised?

My machine came with a delta electronics 19.5V 7.7A (150.15W) adaptor. Beyond that I can't say anything.

Their parts catalogue suggests that it comes with the 150W adaptor as they put the 16F2 as a compatable machine, but not for the 120W adaptor.
