The new GT72 ticks all the boxes for me, but whether I get one will depend on price. Unfortunately I'm on a budget and it'll need to be competitive with the previous generation or I'll just get one of those.

PC World got it wrong. The GS70 doesn't have Thunderbolt, but the GT72 will.

Yeah this has been posted before, i'll say again that while the site tries, they don't seem to have the most technically minded staff.

Which is ironic when it purports to be a tech rag.

It's a bit like PC world stores in the UK, some of the stuff I have heard their staff come out with :/

It's like the GS70 is the red-headed step child. From all the press-releases and even MSI's site, it looks like the new GS60 and GT72 both have that new super-port, but the GS70 doesn't.

Its annoying that these manufacturers are picking the oddest or most expensive systems to be equipped with the thunderbolt 3.

Yeah it is. GT72 and GS60 series weren't a surprise as they seem to be MSI's flagships. No reason the GS70 couldn't have it though.

Looking at what Asus is doing as well, it seems that 1500 is the entry point for thunderbolt this year.

Adding thunderbolt requires an extra chip which adds cost and power.

Still don't know why the GS70 doesn't get it though.

Thunderbolt has proven to be unpopular in x86 users except in Mac platform, and the license fee to use such technology does not help with manufacturing cost.

Right, but there hasn't been a good reason to include it until now. Thunderbolt 3 can do a lot more that previous gens couldn't.

it's pretty weak that they're not including thunderbolt 3 in their laptops without gpu. I'd pay top dollar for a machine with a full powered i7, tb3 and no gfx card.

Without having their systems released judging their line up now is premature.

Yes, the non S variants (which include all previous generation products) do not have it.
