    Hi Fellow Builders,

Consider this: I have been building computers over 35 years (yes I breadboarded when computers were just mere switch panels) and I am a MSI Retailer. Thought this costs me business on ocaasions

    STAY WAY FROM MSI LAPTOPS.

The initial product is great (when it able to run - MSI has a bad habit of sending the older BIOS so it usually needs to be updated first), but the parts INTERNALLY are, well, cheap! Especially the power supply connector. They break easily and they will not cover under warranty as they claim physical damage had to be have occurred for this to happen. BTW - these have been returned to me with so much as a scratch on them. As most of you know, you can't do internal damage with some kind of evidence on the outside....

    Hope this helps some...

Jeff, thanks for the enlightening information. But how do you mean that their parts are cheap? because power supply connector broke on you a few times? MSI's individual parts are frequently awarded for being the best. If their individual parts are great, would they really offer parts in a barbone or built-on system that would be bad?

I think the case here may be that you, particularly, have had bad experience with a few customer notebooks..? Every company has problems with hardware (dell, hp, and even mac) but I think its unfair to denounce the company and give it a bad name because of unfortunate experiences with one or two problems.

consider this: I purchased an asus laptop and experienced internal hardware configuraion problems, I exchanged it only to find that the next one had different but equally problematic issues. Now if i were to announce on this forum that Asus laptops are terrible and that they break all the time, people would say I'm crazy, namely those who own Asus laptops that work perfectly.

Perhaps their customer service lacks strength...but thats a completely different story and quite possibly more conceivable. Stating that all MSI Laptops have cheap parts that often break is a bigger statement.

Your accusations are strong and being an MSI laptop owner for a while now, I don't think that MSI merits these accusations, thats all i mean.

It is any manufacture that has notebooks shipped with older bios....
We sell Asus, MSI, and many others and often receive notebooks with an available bios update. If you are a reseller it is up to you to update this prior to delivery. Bios updates are quite common and for a manufacture to update every model in stock is impossible.

    Cheap Components..............
We deliver ALOT of MSI notebook and they have had no more concerns than any other manufacture we sell, power supply connector.........never had an issue with ANY.

MSI's warranty coverage when necessary is one of the best. They have on occasion gone above and beyond to resolve any issues that exist.
