Just bought the MSI GX-660, first time MSI user, everyone is great, except...

Anyone having trouble staring at the screen longer than 30 minutes?

I have owned various laptops from different brands in the past and have not faced this uncomfortable situation.

Dizziness and Eye strain is what is happening. My eyes get tired too fast staring at the screen which I have never experienced with my past laptops, Dell, Alienware, ASUS, Toshiba, HP, Lenevo, Acer, etc.

Lowering the contrast does help a little bit, but as I mentioned, this is indeed a unusual situation experienced by someone who has tested and ran laptops for the past 5 years.

    Is this a MSI defect?

I had exactly the same problem with my gt660. I am not sure what the problem was but after less than an hour I would have the same symptoms. The screen was by far the worst I have ever seen (and I have seen many since I used to run mid-size IT company). Colour reproduction was terrible and somehow (this will sound odd) the screen was forcing me to have my eyes half-open if you know what I mean. For some reason I couldn't look at it with my eyes wide-open for more than say 45min-1hour. And to answer your question: no I don't think it is a defect.

    Hey hey.
I noticed the same thing at first, but feels like my eyes have got used to it. So it's probably because it is a little cheap monitor.

The symptoms I was getting are somewhat gone now. My eyes don't feel stressed out or my nerves don't feel like they will burn and explode any more. So that is the good news, that I may have gotten used to it. However If I look closely on my screen, then the strain will occur, the icons are not sharp at all, rather blurry/fuzzy.

So flashing the Vbios does not fix this issue right? I heard MSI has some Fuzzy screen solution with a new Vbios patch on their website.

Just wondering if that would fix the issue? Anyone know? I don't want to unnecessary finger the Vbios if it won't make any difference.

    THX!

I have seen fuzzy screens before, not just on cheap monitors, does the graphics driver allow you to change anything to do with the refresh rate?

I will have a quick look around and see if there is anything online, also you could check if it is anything to do with the "colour temperature" the cold ones can look rather sharp.

in the mean time good luck.
