    Hi,

I was thinking, since we have a sata optical drive and the ICH9M southbridge supports raid 0/1, would it be possible to set up raid?

i.e. Buy a HDD caddy for the optical bay, stick in second HDD, would there be a raid option in the BIOS (under the SB option in the advanced menu, use old BIOS for this)?

Well thanks for the info, I guess I would have seen a raid controller in the device manager if we had one...

You can still do software raid through windows, while not as fast as hardware raid, it's still faster then jabod.

Hmm, this makes me think raid is possible, as you can see there is an option for raid in my 1.0T BIOS:

That's nice ! 2 7200rpm drive is better. Do you have 2 identical drive laying around or borrow so you could try ?

It won't work on 1722. Besides I would still need a 2nd HDD

If it's there it should work , is it a modded one ?

No, that's a BIOS I got straight from the MSI download page.
It's an official BIOS, just an older one.

Have you tried selecting RAID and booting into the Intel matrix storage manager?

Check the Intel matrix console in windows too. Should be ICH9M-E

That's weird as MSI Gseries don't come with twin HDD. Worth a try though :p

I selected raid, then I just got a BSOD at the windows loading screen.

I'm not sure, is there something I have to press to get into the storage manager?
