    Hi All,

Recently purchased this laptop and has been satisfied with it although the footprint is a little bigger than i expected for work. There is a few question i would like to ask some more knowledgeable forum member and hopefully i can solve them. Thanks !

    1. First of all, due to this is a 4K resolution display and I have a 1080P external monitor, whenever I connect it through HDMI, whether I set the laptop screen to 4K or 1080p, my external monitor cannot project a normal 1080p resolution, all my icon will be huge and any application i use such as outlook or chrome will be too zoomed in and thus making the external monitor unusable except only if i game. Any fix or solution to this question?

    2. The 4K screen to be honest is gorgeous except for the yellow problem. the yellow is very inaccurate and i have already read a few post from the Lenovo Y50 4K forum as well as they seems to face the same problem. Any colour calibration that is used that already can solve or soften this issue?

Thanks again for your help !

Is your DPI adjusted correctly? Maybe your DPI is like 200% of the normal size, and you don't notice because your main screen is 4K?

Honestly I haven't used laptops with built in screens larger than 1080p at normal 100% dpi.

right click your desktop, click personalize, then on the bottom left click display and then select smaller text. Try this for the external display, because it might make everything so small on your main screen hahaha.

Is your external monitor set to duplicate or extend? It should work fine when extend is selected.

Thanks for the help ! Finally solved my problem. haha. Thanks a lot again !

Hi, when i set to extend it cant work fine as my 4k resolution in the laptop is normal looking while everything in my external monitor will look very big. The way i used now is i duplicate the image to my external monitor only and my laptop monitor is not showing anything then scaling the DPI to medium. kinda troublesome as after i unplug my laptop from the external monitor i have readjust the DPI again but if this way make my external monitor work i am fine with it.

You are welcome, glad I could be of help :)

I am sure there should be a way to tweak it so you can use both simultaneously. Maybe with more time we can see to it :)

The Ghost uses the Samsung SDC434B display panel which is the same used in Asus G501/UX501, Lenovo Y40-70 and many other 4K laptops. This panel is locked at 48hz and has bad reproduction of colour yellow as it is a RGB-Pentile type panel. I can confirm that these issues have no fix as of now.
