    Hi everyone.

I just created an account today, primarily to ask you all this one question:

So, I am going to buy a new MSI gaming notebook, and I have narrowed it down to two models. My question for you guys is, which of the two is overall better? To specify, I am looking for the model of the two with the overall best gaming performance, and additionally the best of the two in terms of graphics (and all other visual aspects), sound quality (and all other audio aspects), lowest FPS while playing MMO's, generally highest speed and all that good stuff that makes a gaming pc worth the title of Gamer. :)

Here are the two different models I ask for you to compare:

    1. MSI Global GT683

    2. MSI Global GP60 2PE Leopard

    Thanks in advance!

    You are going to find a "new" 683? It's a 2.5 - 3 years old model.

It's a really long story, but to shorten it down; I have had sent my old MSI GT683 notebook in for repair, and they offered me a brand new MSI GP60 2PE Leopard instead of the repairs of the old GT683 one, and therefore, I would like to know if I actually gain (purely specification-wise for gaming purposes) if I accept their offer? My thoroughly research have rated them both at about equal? Any help on my actualy question/s is appreciated.

I'd say about equal, too - depending on which processor is on GP60.

    It's the 4th generation Intel Core i7-4700HQ CPU 2.40Ghz.

Also, the GP60 have an Nvidia Geforce 860M Graphics Card, whilst the GT683 have an GTX560. Is there a Whole lot of different between the two?

Now that's clear - GP60 is vastly better. 860M is about 2x faster.

    The GP60 2PE don´t have a GTX860M, it have a GT840M. The GP60 Pro have a GTX850M with GDDR3 vRAM. The GTX850M is fast than the the GTX560M, the GT840M is a little bit slower.

The quality of the Chassie and the Soundquality of the GT683 is much better !

So overall, guys, which would you say is the best? The MSI GT683 (Intel Core i5, 6GB RAM and Nvidia Geforce GTX 560) or the MSI GP60 2PE Leopard (Intel Core i7, 8GB RAM and Nvidia Geforce 840M) The links are on the top of my thread. Thanks in regards!

If you care only about pure performance, of course, the GP60. The CPU is much faster, the graphics card is on the same level, but can be much better overclocking because it is based on the current Maxwell architecture.

Advantages of MSI GT683 are clearly the sound system, upgradeability (graphics card and CPU replaceable

with the GP60 you get a new modern device. There even is a mSATA slot in the device, which is an advantage.

Im not familiar with the GT683 but i personally dont find the GP60 to be worthy of the 'gaming' title. It's GPU (which is what makes a gaming laptop) is simply too weak / low power to be considered a gaming machine. If I were you I'd sell the laptop and save a little more to buy maybe a GE60 instead. And considering the GT683 is much older, i'd say the GP60 would be much easier (or less difficult) to sell. Hope that helps

I agree that this is the best course of action - if you can do without a laptop for awhile or have another one to use in the meantime.
