    Hi Guys,

I have ordered one of these from a place here in OZ, will tell you the full model and everything when i get it, but it will fit in the ODD bay of the GX740 making it possible to have 2 internal HDD's :D

    In my case 1 x 128GB SATA SSD and 1 x 1TB SATA HDD
    LINK HERE FOR AUSTRALIA ONLY

    OTHERS INTERNATIONAL HERE

But im sure there are other distributors out there that can get these.

    Pics and testing to follow....

I've been using an optical bay HDD caddy for a long time, first in my MS-1722 (GX720), then in my MS-1727 (GX740). It works well and I don't use the optical drive that much anyway...

I bought my OBHD caddy from newmodeus, the one with universal bezel (you can basically swap it).

Just bought this a month ago in Europe (live in Denmark), and want to add an SSD, but dont wanna sacrifice the storage space. This would be awesome for me! Looking forward to your follow up on this.

Also, I am trying to find out which screw to detach, in order to slide out the ODD. Can anyone help? Link did not work (not in my region at least)

Is performance the same in standard hdd bay and secondary caddy?

To slide out the ODD, You need to detach this screw:

Performance is the same in main HDD bay and in OBHD.

Can get a Fenvi branded 12.7mm ebay caddy which allows you to swap over the optical drive's faceplate for a perfect appearance. See example.

    nope,

I also got mine, tough fit for my 880Seagate, but after some hacking (with a knife and capet cutter) I'm good to go. I didn't have to hack it, I just thought it was stuck. I wasn't really, live a learn.

Hmm so wait it doesn't fit all 2.5 hard drives? Or is your 880Seagate a special size?

Yeah its a little bigger than normal, so if I got this to fit, anything will, PS... I had to carve out the bottom of the bay for may Seagate to fit.

I don't see you having any issues at all.

9.5mm is a standard height for a 2.5" HDDs. Any caddy should work.

Okay I've installed it... But had some problems.

First of all the screws that tied the little piece at the end of the DVD drive (where the black screw goes into) did not work on the OBHD, so now it's only connected by the SATA connection.

Also, when I tried to take the drive it out seemed to be stuck on something...
