Can this laptop accept SATA3 interface SSD drives?
-
There is no SATA 3, naming it like that creates confusion. The latest revision of SATA allows devices for up to 6Gb/s speeds, but generally so these devices are backwards compatible with SATA 3Gb/s interfaces.
Depending on the drive, they should be compatible. Unless the device is unable to work with lower speeds, but that would be a bad idea considering the SATA 6Gb/s is still fairly new.
Most SSDs work without issues of SATA, so you should be fine. -
Thanks, I plan on picking up a Crucial M4 soon and I wanted to make sure it was compatible since it said it uses a SATA 3 interface.

It is compatible, but it will not be able to achieve the maximum advertised read/write speeds as the GX660 is SATA2 (3Gb/s) based. Of course, most people won't need 500Mb/s read speeds. . .

Thanks, I'll just get a SATA3 since eventually i'll rip it out for another computer eventually!
