I changed the thermal paste on the CPU and GPU with Artic Silver 5 and my temperatures increased to 98 degrees Celsius. I've done this many times and always had good results. I'm really confused as to how the temperatures increased, and it has been like this for days. The temperatures are not changing at all.

Heat with this system wouldn't be such an issue if we had fan control. We could put it to 100% when we're gaming and put it on automatic control while doing anything else. I am considering buying an extra heatsink for the system and seeing what I can do about installing a better fan to get better results. Worth a try but 80 bucks for the heatsink is a bit steep.

Did you take the heatsink off to check if the paste spread correctly?

yea it was the GPU that was hitting 98. I took it off and noticed that the paste didn't spread well at all. I cleaned it up and added more paste and about double the amount that I normally use. It's only hitting 91 degrees celsius and idling alot better. The cpu temps seemed to improve the most, it's idling at 45. I think now when it cures I will get better temperatures.

Also I've read about lowering the voltage to help increase temperatures. Does this go hand in hand with clock speeds? Or can i possibly still get the same performance while still managing to lower the clock speeds? Thanks ahead

I noticed you got your 5850 at 750? What are you temperatures like? What modifications have you done?

Its probably because its not 99% usage all the way unlike metro. Even my 5850xfire in my desktop struggles at max and i get dips of 20fps. This game is the new crysis.

I just overclocked to 750/1000 and the highest i'm hitting is 86C. I'm ok with these numbers. I guess the AS5 settled in.

Edit: What are you using to change your voltages? Rivatuner?

86oC is good. My average is around 80-82 oC depending on ambient. Thats around the same as my max

I hit 95-97C when I am gaming while its in my lap. Maybe I should get a flat surface to hold the laptop when I keep it in my lap. Do you have any recomendations to maybe a laptop cooler that is lap friendly as well?

yep, it shot back up it seems. It's getting 85ish when the bottom laptop where the GPU is not touching anything. that's the best I've been able to do with this thing.
