It appears the MSI EX625 isn't going to be the only MSI notebook that's going to be equipped with the new ATi Mobility Radeon HD4670 (512MB DDR3)GPU:

ill bet money that the current 620 or barebones model can be upgraded to the newer ati cards then, look to be the same machine minus a few changes and the gpu!! nice
-
But it's interesting to note how the EX625 has only a 65W AC adapter while the GX623 still has the 90W. Therefore it's nice to see how universal the GX620 has been for different video card setups (i.e. the GT627 w/ the 9800m GS as well). Maybe this says something for the GX620 with future video card updates.
Which makes me wonder how a 90W supply is adequate for the GT627. I thought the 9800m GS drew up to 60W on it's own, according to notebookcheck.com-- not the most reliable site, but if so, only 25W processors would be compatible with it leaving only 5W left for other system components.. unlikely.. but the EX625 baffles me as well.
Nevertheless I'm very interested in hearing about battery the life of all of these lappys. -
i personally would love to see the 620 barebones with the 9800 in it.. would be a sweet system imo
-
when will this come out i need to know
-
-
Will it be available everywhere MSI sells at?
It does look like an interesting machine although I'd have been cool for MSI to revamp the chassis a bit to underline the difference in terms of the notebook's performance >.> -
-
-
nope that's all he sent me in the email even though i was asking about the gx627. also don't get your hopes up for it coming out before christmas
-
-
hmm this thing would be pretty sweet.. man i think i can wait.. arghh but waiting kills me..
-
lol it certainly is an interesting product, not many notebooks utilize the higher end ATI cards so it'd be cool to see how well they scale
-
man should i wait another month.. it seems the better gpu's are due soon from ati. i am considering mi or clevo at this point. a 15" with a 4850 would be pretty sweet i think though it may perform about the sam as the 3870 imo
-
-
arghhhhh a month without a laptop though is going to be hell... lol
-
I wonder how well the HD4670 scales in the notebook world seeing as I haven't heard any recounts of its performance yet
-
I don't get it! how does a desktop card work in a laptop? cause the 4670 is a desktop card right?
-
All higher end notebook cards share their name with desktop cards, just that they denoted the difference with the "mobility" or "M" name. -

look like i may have to resurrect my ex625 thread i prefer the EX ONLY because i like the widescreen look i think it looks really good, this notebook is great though i have read many reviews and the 4670 performs quite a bit better then the 3850 in certain games that was true with the desktop version i dont see how it will be much different in mobile form.
Im telling you these big notebook makers are teasers wheres the dell, hp, Lenovo with the Ati 4000 series card? Guess we gotta wait and See -
I would agree with you on that, but it's a shame that the resolution on the EX625 is quite standard compared to the GX623's WSXGA+ screen.
-

yeah
At least 1600 x 900 would have been acceptable
-
So does anyone know if this notebook is out yet and how much it will cost?
I've tried emailing MSI and I haven't gotten a response in 2 days =/ -
Hello? Anyone? Please?

An update for anyone in Australia who was waiting for the GX623 to be released (like me):
I contacted MSI Australia today (05 March 2009) and was told by sales that MSI Australia have no plans to release the GX623. They clarified by saying that this is applicable for the next 8 weeks (they must have a roadmap?)
Also, if a GX623 was purchased overseas, MSI Australia would only honour the international warranty; the terms for the international warranty differ a little (ie the Australian warranty is pickup, the international warranty is return-to-base).
Is this laptop even released anywhere else (besides the one found in Canada)? Maybe there is a delay on the HD4670 mobile GPUs? Or a cost thing?
Disappointing, really. I have been holding off from a notebook purchase until this was released. I don't like the idea of an NVidia GPU from the standpoint of longevity. Any other laptops sporting the HD4670 card?

I didn't know there was a GX623 in Canada

....me neither guess you learn something everyday
-
Well, Justin at Exotic said he had no info on it... but i want one!!!! AHHH!!!!!
-
So, to correct, the other thread found one for sale in France, not Canada.

and what's the difference between EX series and GX series? which is better if the spec is the same? -
-
hi folks
do i get it right, you folks are looking for MSI GX623 reviews? Recently i found a superb review of the MSI GX623-8647VHP - unfortunately in german.
But what you can see at the benchmark screen looks really good. Especially when considering the price point of that machine.

Welcome to the site.
Amazing eh? That 4670 is running toe to toe with 9800gs impressive -
Yeah the 4670 is brutal alright
-
with this fact, this means that the EX625 with a p8600 or p8400 will smoke the gt627? while its cheaper?
-
It will run with it... it will NOT smoke it.

I'm really interested in the GX623 and it's already on the market in Bulgaria for a month.
Can someone tell how is the 4670 performing in OpenGL mode and are there any problems with OpenGL and CAD programs (AutoCAD,Archicad,3D Studio etc..).Are there any problems with driver versions and compatibility?
I'm asking because i'm intending to change my Quadro card(in a dell precision laptop) for a GX623 -
The 9600M GT is still using the now very old 65nm shrunk G84.
