Look inside the square (in the center of the square! the surrounding black dots are made in paint to see the difference between pixel OFF and the strange pixel in the center:

    Look inside the mouse pointer:

What do you think? Is it a dead (sub)pixel, or is it a particle inside the screen? Looks like only half of the pixel is covered/defective.. never seen this before.

Note: when I move my head from left -> right in front of the screen, the spot appears, then disappears, appears again, dissapears.

It's best to save the image to your PC and zoom in (you can actually see the sub-pixels next to each other).

(I whiped the screen several times and it is not on the screen surface!)

I would say those all definitely look like dead pixels. They all line up almost perfectly with the screen.

Out of curiosity, which screen is this? Is this the WSXGA+ Matte screen?

I edited my post. The black dots in the upper picture are made in paint. It's about the pixel (almost) dead center in the square. The same pixel in the second picture, but now inside the mouse pointer.

(it's a glossy WSXGA+ screen by the way)

You must have some impeccable vision!

I will still say that is a dying pixel, because it doesn't look completely 'dead.' I don't even know how you notice things like that, lol

Somehow I just notice... :D Maybe I'm cursed or something like that :p

However, I have never heard of a dying pixel... Thing is I never saw this before, and indeed it doesn't look completely dead. So is it the pixel that's defective? Or is it a particle under the screen surface?

Ok, it's a speck of dust/debry. I read somewhere about a flashlight trick where you shine on the screen while it's off. The little black spot is also there when the screen is off.

    So next question:

Is a speck of dust/debry inside the screen harmfull? I have dead pixel warranty on this laptop, but since it's not a dead pixel but debry, I don't know what to do...
