I was looking at the Synaptics software/driver/whatever and was wondering if this laptop supports multitouch?

In hardware yes, but unfortunately it is not enabled in the windows drivers. There are some modded Acer driver that will work but I don't have first hand experience.

Linux will support some multitouch, such as two finger scrolling, without modded drivers.

Do you know how I would go about getting that?

    I do use Windows 7
Unfortunately, every time I install these I get version 6.2 instead of 6.5, thereby not giving me any multitouch options

6.2 is the touchpad firmware which should work just fine. There are reports of people using v6.2 with the modded drivers with success.

Verify in device manager that you are running driver version 10.2.4

It is 10.2.4, but I still only get single touch options
Am I just missing an option, or what?

I had synaptics drivers on my old XPS. They were great. I'd love to know if I could get them to work on this lappy as well.

I can't recall offhand which, but I'm pretty sure I installed Synaptics drivers on my GT725 so that I could adjust more settings. I'll try to check when I get home.

Yeah thats what I meant. The MSI touchpad drivers offer no setting to tweak. Synaptics ones on my XPS M1710 you could adjust everything.

I've read that the HP drivers work with OEMs.

The Acer driver does not work with MSI MS-1651 ID2. Any ideas or I'm doing a wrong thing?
