Does anybody know how to install windows 8 on the super raid?

    The problem is the following:

    GX60 doesn't come with a window 8 dvd.
Windows 8 comes pre installed on a partition on the 750gb HHD.
Also are you losing a license when you reinstall windows 8 on the super raid???

You have your key on the underside of your machine.

You can legally download an iso to burn a windows 8 disc.

Why do they need to do it? Why don't you burn one?

If you have a valid product key, why would he/she be hesitant?

If you would like, you can try to burn it yourself by following this link: Download Windows 8 ISO From Microsoft Using Product Key

Although the process is somewhat time consuming, it's simple to follow. :)

I've tried that but that is a no go. I found my product key using a third party software. I then inputted my key in only to say that the key cant be used for this version or what not. I believe that is specifically for the retail version which he doesn't have.

If anyone could provide an iso for windows 8 oem that would be wonderful. From what I understand because the key is embedded into the bios, it should pretty much self install, provided you have something to boot it off of.

    I have similar isues.
I have no brightness controls for my GX60 MSI laptop. I can't find a fix anywhere for AMD switchable graphics chpsets. The one with the AMD A10 APU and 7970 GPU.

I can't seem to fix it and it bothers me no end. It's actually brighter running on battery!!

I'm thinking I have to re-install from scratch, wait a minuite, no M$ CD, just a corrupted HDD partition. Oh, this keeps getting better!

Anyway, so I upgraded to 8 pro from the official Microsoft upgrade option, payed $69 and regardless, I am not able to download the Windows 8x64 ISO, the program tells me it's an upgrade key. Errr, duh, that's cause I upgraded?? It's genuine you morons, I have the order. but, no, I cant' download the ISO.

Even if I could download it, it probably will fail cause it's an upgrade key right?
So, where's my original key you ask, on the box?? no, on the CDs?? no, on the laptop? yeah, it may as well be tattooed to my backside. Nice one.

So what's that leave ? Well, after numerous calls to Microsoft, it leaves me more than frustrated, I'm peeved. So I'm going to have to find a way to hack the rotten software now, I don't see any other way, wha f it gets further corrupted, I got no way of restoring legitimately and i'll be boxed if I'm making another 5 calls and 35 mins of have you tried this, and that

For future reference, you can try this:

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/asus/698920-installing-windows-8-pro-over-standard-oem-your-new-win8-certified-notebook.html

I've read another thread where the user had the same problem with their brightness settings (not on an MSI machine). The issues weren't there at one point, however. Possible OS corruption if that's the case. :(

People with the Superraid (Raid Zero) - MSI GX60

Could people please list their boot times from post into windows 8.

I'm getting 10 seconds and think there is something wrong??

    Should it be instant boot?

You would have to make sure you are using UEFI booting compared to bios booting.

10 seconds is still pretty quick. I don't think it's "instant" with a super RAID setup, although it's seemingly close.

    Wait what ?

Default Windows install is on the HDD not SSD and no disk supplied ? sense .. that makes none.

Well hang on a second. Windows 8 boots a lot faster than windows 7

My Gx60 without the raid boots in 3 seconds...
My mates Gx60 with the raid boots in 10 to 11 seconds...

Can you see my point.... It's seems unusual to have a faster boot on a single HDD, rather than on my mates raid 0 (2x 1258GB mSata SSD's), which claims to have a read and write speed of 1Gbps

That's somewhat relative to the SATA revision. 1Gbit/s is not very fast. But yes, they should outperform a HDD in boot time for sure.

In raid mode you do have the Intel raid controller splash screen to get through for one thing.

Got my GX60 coming ether Friday or next Monday all being well.

I cant do the main method described in this thread as im not doing a Win 7 to Win 8 or Standard 8 to Pro 8 upgrade as its a system with 8 pre installed so how much of a pain is it going to be to put windows on the SSD instead of HD and how ?
