    Hello guys

I decided to buy one of these notebooks because of their componets and low price. Now i just have to decide which one. Of course the Gx 640 is much better for players and much louder but this thread is about somethig else. Which one is better for your eyes? Both have LCD glare screen ( i hate this), but :
    GX has 15" - 15.9" and 1680 x 1050 resolutnios
    GE has 16" - 16.9" and 1366 x 768 resolution.

Does it make any difference for yours eyes? Is there anything that makes it more healthy for your eyes?

Correct me if I'm wrong - but I believe that you can always lower the resolution on a higher-res laptop if you so desire.

But yes, lower resolutions (720p) are better on the eyes, and unless you're watching closely and movement - higher definitions don't register too much. (Sometimes they do)

Bearclaw is right. But don't let the native resolution limit your purchase - you can always adjust the res to what you are more comfortable with later.

Uhm the GX 640 is a little more expensive (70 euro or so) but seems better, so I would prefer to buy it.
Wont it look unnaturaly with lower resolution(from 1680 x 1050 to 1366x738 )? Its really hard to decide which one to buy :| On the one hand GE seems more healty and naturally but with the other hand GX640 has ATIRadeon 5850 (GE has 5730).

    ahat about laptop with 1600 x 900

1600x900 is probably my fav res.

If you lower your res from 1680x1050 down to something like 1440x900 it will look blurry.

1440x900 at native is much better looking than 1680x1050 scaled down to 1440x900.

    Thanks.

So finally comparing two notebooks : MSI GX640 with Acer Acer AS7552G(just found it and seems pretty cool).

    Acer :

    AS7552G
Procesor AMD Phenom II Black Edition X920 (2.30 GHz, 2 MB cache)
    Chipset AMD M880G
RAM 4096 MB (SODIMM DDRAM3, 1066 MHz, max 12 GB)
Dysk twardy 640 GB SATA 5400 obr.
    Drive DVD+/-RW DualLayer
    Screen glare, LED 17.3
    Native resolution 1600 x 900 HD+
Graph Card ATI Mobility Radeon HD5850 1024 MB DDR 3

    MSI:

Procesor Intel Core i5-430M (Od 2.26 GHz do 2.53 GHz, 3 MB cache)
    Chipset Intel HM55
    RAM 4096 MB (SODIMM DDRAM3, 1066MHz, max 4 GB)

    Driver DVD+/-RW DualLayer
    Screen Błyszczący LCD 15,4

    Native resolution 1680x1050
Graph Card ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5850 1GB DDR5 VRAM

Price seems the same. Is there any noticable difference between acer and msi?Which one is better for me? Or maybe do you know something else that will satisfy me

The first thing you need to figure out for yourself is how important portability is for you. I can tell you coming from a DELL XPS M1710 that the difference between a 17" and 15" notebook is quite significant.

As far as screen resolution goes, it's true that the higher resolutions take some time getting used to. I however have grown to love the clarity and sharpness and level of detail of my WSXGA+ screen and wouldn't dream of changing to a lower resolution.

Unfortunately I have no experience with Acer computers so I can't say anything about their build quality.
Even though I personally love my GX 640 I have to say it really comes to its own after some tweaking. I'm referring to the cooling solution, which while being well-designed is not the best executed one and benefits greatly from adding a copper shim to the GPU die or replacing the vRAM heat pads with thermal paste. Also I don't know if the new machines come with the improved vBIOS but if not it's also highly recommended to flash the vBIOS.
Still it's and excellent machine even at stock but has the potential of becoming something exceptional if you're not afraid of getting your hands "dirty" ;)

PS. You might want to confirm if the vRAM on the HD5850 on the Acer is really DDR3 which would grossly hamper the potential of this great video card.

    Thanks for this post.

Acer has Radeon 5850 with 1024MB DDR3. I have just checked some reviews and compared it to MSi GE600 and the MSI wins.

I the most worry about my eyes so which one would be the really bect choice for me? I really like the GX640 but the resolution scares me a little bit

Thanks. Just trying to be constructive where I can :D

As I said earlier it just takes a little time getting used to the high res screens. If you're worried about any medical side effects (?) I don't think there are any but of course I'm not an expert in that field... I can assure you from personal experience though, that my eyesight hasn't deteriorated in the slightest despite staring at a high res screen for several hours each day for the past 4 years.

You could try going to a local computer store to check out some of the laptops with high resolution screens on display there to ease your concerns.
