Hi guys!
I'd like to know about your general ideas for mods of the GT80.
Currently I'm looking into keyboard mods, such as:
- Layout conversion: key caps repositioning for conversion into different layouts (QWERTY, QWERTZ, AZERTY, etc.)
- Noise dampening: o-ring installation to reduce noise of the Cherry MX switches
In my search for silent keyboards I've just stumbled upon the Matias Quiet Pro[1] -- so far the less noisy of the mechanical keyboards that I've found.
Do you know of any other (almost) silent keyboards?
Would it be possible to adapt the Quiet Pro into a GT80?
Would it be possible to convert the GT80 keyboard into a Quiet Pro or one of similar noise level?

I've just found the SteelSeries Apex M800[1] which has QS1[2] switches.
Not sure how loud it is yet. Any info on that?

Thanks @majster msi for the info[1]!
It's possible to add the haptic motor of the touchpad. It can be acquired in the aftermarket[2].

I would be interested in a whole keyboard and touchpad replacement(removal), as I find the lack of a left-side windows key annoying, the duplicate \ keys to be redundant, and the touchpad is totally useless to me, and much better served with a full numeric keypad. Any ideas?
p.s. I already have a bunch of clear silicone o-rings on the way to silence the keyboard a bit more. -
I could think of a personalized membrane to put over the touchpad, to make it more like a full fledged numeric pad. the idea is to give you some sort of haptic feedback along with physical boundaries between keys.
You can switch the windows key and FN key on BIOS, and I assume physically as well, to get back your left side windows key. -

They are standard switches and caps so you can do whatever you do to a regular mechanical keyboard.
You get a cap remover which is even better. -

Did anyone find an aftermarket haptics motor that fits the gt80? I want to put one in the laptop when I buy it.
Thanks,
Mason -

I believe the photo shows a haptics device hooked into the touchpad. It's supposed to give feedback when you use the numpad to let u know it registered a tap

It was originally in the prototype - msi supposedly left the wiring in place for it - Majster is the only person I know of who has successfully implemented it in his gt80

Id like to disable the LED strip above the keyboard. The Steelseries software doesnt seem to support the option. Ive taken appart the laptop and cant find a wiring harness. Has anyone seen a cable for it / found a software option?
Thanks
