Having been that involved in the laptop/desktop tech scene for a year or two so I'm looking to get some opinions on this laptop. I plan to use it as a desktop replacement, perhaps for school too but I may use a smaller laptop I currently have.
I purchased from an Amazon warehouse deal (used). Price was $2568 CAD (~ 45% off a new one) after tax which is ~ 1934.54 I think. A brand new one is $4000 CAD.
I could have gotten the MSI GT80S Titan SLI for the same price but I don't think the specs are better since it doesn't have the desktop-grade GPUs.
- Intel Core i7-6820HK processor (2.7-3.6GHz)
- nVidia Dual GeForce GTX1070 [SLI] 16G GDDR5 (8GB each)
- 17.3" FHD, Anti-Glare Wide View Angle 120Hz 5ms 94%NTSC
- DDR IV 32GB 2400MHz and Super Raid 4-256GB SSD (NVMe M.2 SSD) [128GB *2]+1TB (SATA) 7200rpm
- VR Ready; PCIe RAID; Killer Gaming Network E2400; Killer N1535 Combo (2*2 ac); Bluetooth; HDMI; Thunderbolt; MDP; USB 3.0; Webcam FHD type (60fps@1080p); Windows 10
- Intel Core i7-6920HQ processor (2.9-3.8GHz)
- 18.4" Full HD WideView IPS-Level Non Reflection (1920x1080 16:9)
- Dual nVidia Geforce GTX 980M, 16G DDR5 (8GB each)
- DDR IV 32GB and Super Raid 4 256GB SSD (PCIE GEN3 NVMe)(128GB*2) +1TB (SATA) 7200rpm
- VR Ready; BD Writer (9.5mm); Killer Gaming Network E2400; Killer N1535 Combo (2*2 ac); Bluetooth; HDMI; MDP; Windows 10; Wecam FHD type (30fps@1080p)
How do these two compare and is it a good price for what I paid? I'm specifically wondering about the upgradability, I've seen that the GT80S is easier to upgrade, but I know in the one I purchased there is a warranty void sticker.
Amazon warehouse webpage also specifies that there is no manufacturer warranty on their items, but like buying a used item on Craigslist there would still be some warranty left?

I'll add that double posting isn't a good idea, either place was fine -

The warranty void sticker doesn't mean anything, even MSI has admitted as much. Now if you break something else while attempting to upgrade any of the user serviceable components, you wouldn't be covered. Otherwise, you're fine.
Also, while Amazon Warehouse is fine for smaller purchases, I'd be very wary of making a large one from there. The quality is very hit and miss as what they stock are customer returns that were sent back for any number of reasons.
