After my Alienware 17 (880m) "died" I went shopping for a new system and ended up with the GT73VR with a 7820HK and gtx 1080.

A bit mixed feelings about it since the build quality is really not nearly as good as the one I am replacing it with not to mention a few MSI-quirks.
But the performance, screen and cooling system is absolutely mind-blowing to an extent that none of that really matters.

During normal use (and gaming) the system is set to Sport and the auto fan profile.
It absolutely smashes anything I throw at it and doesn't seem to break a sweat.
In Overwatch @120hz with everything maxed the CPU hovers around 47C and gpu around 60C.
In Witcher 3 (again with everything turned all the way up) it never dropped below 100fps with the CPU at around 60C and the GPU at 70C. The system is pretty quiet like this and turning on the Basic (Fast) fan profile or even the jet engine fan profile will make those temps drop by a cool 10-15C.

Using only Dragon Center I OC'ed the GPU to 200Mhz Core Clock Offset and 300 VRAm and the CPU to "42" although I am not sure what that means it translates pretty well to the 4192.8Mhz that the CPU is sitting at.

I tried a couple of benchmarks and it looked like this:

Unigine Heaven: Score: 3029 Max temps: CPU 66C / GPU 67C
    3DMARK 11: Score: 22158 Max temps: CPU 66C / GPU 62C

To make it even more interesting, this was done at horrible ambient temps in a small room with the laptop basically up against a wall without a laptop cooler.

As far as I can tell the scores are pretty good (please post your results for comparison), but what really boggles my mind is the temps.
I basically maxed out the OC options of dragon center (except the vram) and it still never breaks 70C ? Admittedly this was using the jet engine fan profile but still.

Is this to be expected? On stock paste?
It seems a little too good to me(especially coming from the hot as hell 880m), but all clocks are verified and there is no throttling.

    TLDR:

1: Is the performance/temps of my system where it should be?
2: What is your results/temps from similarily specced systems?

The laptop cooling system is really good, and unless you do something extremely tasking, your temps sound relatively normal on average. The CPU might be throttling due to max current, which needs to be raised if you want such high clocks at high TDP. Try 3dmark Firestrike to check how you are scoring, that might help you see if there is something that needs to be addressed.

I mention the last part, because there have been a couple of nvidia drivers that limit the GPU in a way that never breaks certain performance threshold (still performs fast) so even if you overclock, it doesn't run at such clocks, and in turn, actually runs low temp.

For example, my general temps for CPU and GPU are both in the 70s Celsius. Only when my CPU is pushed to absolute 100% for long periods of time, same for the GPU when playing 4K games, do I get on the 80s range.
