I have the above laptop and I've had it since December 3rd. The pc is a beast but I have noticed a few things. I use the nvidia inspector and limit my FPS now to 59.7 just to keep the extra wear and tear off. No need as I can't tell a difference between 60fps and 120. Playing fallout 4 and GTAV my Fps will drop all the way to 40fps every once in a while. I do keep gsync off as well. I haven't done any mods what so ever stock clocks as well. Is this normal? I play other games and it seems like these are the only 2 games it does this with. I thought this rig should run anything on ultra settings at 60fps.

Also, make sure to change the power management mode in the nVIDIA control panel from Optimal to either adaptive or high performance then reboot is a must then try againhmscott likes this. -
Sound good. Yes I'm using the newest driver but it was still the same before I updated. Is there a way to revert? I will make sure when I get home to check the power management as well.

I'm going to try the power management mode tonight when I get home and see what that's currently at if anything I'll send it to high. It always stays at home Plugged in

With my GT73 in GTA V I can drop to around 40fps in a few areas of Los Santos and for Fallout 4 it can happen anywhere there is lots of shadows. The FPS in both these cases scales directly with my CPU speed.
FWIW these games do this on every PC I've played them on. It took a 6700k @ 4.8GHz and memory @ 3200 MHz before I could get these areas to keep fps in the high 50s.
I wouldn't worry about it, likely nothing is wrong with your GT73. I used to get pretty worked up getting less than 60fps in games at any time until I realized that nothing is really going to overcome the draw call performance limitations of DirectX 11 except (currently) unreasonable CPU/RAM speeds.
For Fallout 4 you can get around this by setting the shadows to medium.Last edited: Jan 30, 2017 -

Have you tried to clean install the driver?
