Hi! I've been shopping around and thinking about getting the GT725-075US; however, it looks like it has been replaced by the -212US version, which has a hotter, yet slower (clock speed) quad-core inside. It is at 2.0GHz on the dot, while the -075US had 2.53GHz.
Is the GT725-075 in stock anywhere?
Thanks!

P.S. I'd buy the -074US, but it only has the 3MB P8600 versus the -075US's 6MB P9500.

I seen a few on ebay, but everywhere else they seem to be gone.. NVM just checked and there gone aswell..
-
Yup, I think that's true. Such a shame; it was the perfect laptop!
I guess I'll have to man up and just get the -212US; unless MSI can hurry up and release the GT727/729...
Thanks for the reply, mate.

The CPU is easily upgradeable on the MSI, so I would suggest purchasing a CPU right when you order your laptop and replace your CPU when you get it, so when you sell it, you could say it is new, and has not been used.

Only thing, though, is that I think that would void MSI's warranty. The reason I'm getting the MSI is because the warranty covers the CPU OC. I can overclock other laptops myself, but none will cover the OC. If I put my own CPU in, the MSI loses its advantages.

Hmm, then just deal with the P8600 until the warranty expires
It is fast enough.

I cant decide between 075 and 212.
I find 212 at RK with 3 years warranty.
at 3dmark06 212 score 9850 with good multitask.
as for the 075 everybody know that rules at 3dmark06, with more than 11k(@20%) -
I was debating on both of those versions and ended up going with the 074. I quite like the glossy screen and it has a great picture. I think the higher res screen might have been overkill on a 17 inch screen. I just couldn't justify the extra money for the screen and BR player. I don't know that you are going to see that much difference in image quality on a laptop screen. Your just going to use more power and have slower frame rates in games. I can always upgrade my CPU later as well with the extra money I saved. If I want higher res screen, I can attach an external larger monitor.

Newegg has the open box 075 for 1249.00 wont last long though..

I might grab that open-box, but the warranty, me thinks, is not 100%.

Any clue as to why they discontinued this? Seems like a better model than 74 in every way.
-
they discontinued it due to the 212US version with a Q9000

"OK, we have a $1600 laptop. But, wait, there seems to be a lot of competition in this price range[NOT]. We need to up our game. Hey, let's put a magical quad-core in a laptop, that will definitely get this sucker selling; who could resist the ethereal quad-core, in a laptop?! "
Yeah, I'm sure a lot of gamers (only laptop in the US with 4850!) want a quad-core. Right. I'd love a GT725-076US, just the -074US with a P9500.
I think I might wait for the GT727. But I don't want to pay a price premium for DDR3. Shiz-nits...
