Does anyone know how the sound system is on the MSI 725? I know it has 4 speakers and a subwoofer. I'm wondering how it compares to the Toshiba x305, which has an amazing audio system?

I've been following this thread like a hawk and this is one thing no one has really talked about (owner-wise) so I presume it's average.

I've heard the HDX18 (friend of mine owns it) and that sounds pretty good for a laptop. That is my backup option but if that 30% coupon makes a comeback, I'll go for the HDX18 instead of the 725. For some reason, it seems most people on this thread are more after benchmark results than any other functionality on the 725

Thank you! And yes, I'm just confused by the billions of remarks about benchmarks....and nobody will answer other questions, lol. So thank you for your reply :)

I've been following the threads too. It seems like we will have to wait until the 725 will be released elsewhere for some solid reviews on it. IMHO a semi-good 7 speaker system sounds much better then any laptop sound system.

Tru that but for most people, the whole point of having a laptop is mobility (or semi mobility in my case between my kitchen breakfast nook<=>living room), I can't be hauling a 7.1 system together with my laptop ;)

I have a HDX18 on the way, but am still on the fence about the GT725. I have 21 days to try out the HP and return if I don't like it. I would love to know more about the GT725...like how does it sound, how is the blu-ray, hows the screen when watching movies, etc. I play games, but there is more to life than benchmarks.

I agree, I wouldn't want to be carrying around that :p, but that's where a nice pair of noise canceling headphones would come in handy for obvious mobility reasons. IMO, most ~$70 headphones sound about par with any good laptop speaker system, if your willing to sacrifice some window-vibrating base ;).

Ok, now that some of you have or have ordered the 725....could you tell me how the sound system is (for music, gaming, movies, etc)? Are they great speakers and subwoofer? Or is it just ok, like most other laptops?

The speakers are very good for a laptop. They sound almost as good as my bose computer speakers. The subwoofer on the other hand is almost non existant. I'm not sure if there's a way to turn up the bass or not yet, but as of now the sub is pretty useless. With this being said the speakers more than make up for it. They really shine with accoustics. Hope this helps.
