For some reason I cant even log onto MSI main page anymore. Will MSI be providing 1060 1070 upgrade kits? Looks like the 1060 works real well in the 2DQ Dominator 970m with the proper heat sinks and bios update. That's what I have 2QD-216 Dominator 970m MS-17811 4710hq I bought at BestBuy late 2014 or early 2015 I cant remember. I admit I'm not very computer technical but I build the buildings you guys build your computers in. Looks real easy. 1060 going for $600 MSI send to me I install. life goes on. real simple. My brother tried to convince me to go with Sager but I saw the GT72 and got a stiffy. watched the videos for weeks about how upgradeable this was before purchasing.

MSI will not be supplying upgrade kits. I have dine the GTX970m to GTX1060 using the GT72VR-6RD GPU heatsink and it's MXM card. There will not be a bios update unless MSI changes their mind however so long as you keep the boot option a UEFI and have a UEFI windows install all you will need is the MXM card GTX1060/GTX1070 and the GPU & CPU heatsink for the GT72VR-6RD for GTX1060 or the GT72VR-6RE for the GTX1070 upgrade. I have a video in YouTube be it a ghetto upgrade video with no sound showing me upgrading mine.

Due to you having the GT72-2Qx version you will need the CPU heatsink unlike the GT72-6QD as the bridge from the GPU VRM/Memory going to the CPU is not compatible unless you use the GT72-6Qx / GT72VR-6RD / GT72VR-6RE CPU heatsinks.
Also installing nvidia drivers will require a modded driver .inf file which I have linked in my video on youtube. To install this you will need to disable Windows Driver enforcement and extracting the driver you download from nvidia with 7zip, followed by placing the modded inf file in the display.driver folder. Once dine you simply run the setup.exe file and it will install the driver after prompting if you want to install the driver.

If you are USA based you can still contact MSI to see your standing. Hopefully the extended offer of the upgrade program can still work for you.
MSI won't be offering upgrade kits, and instead offered a Trade In Program, where you can send your machine with original specs, pay a price, and get a new pascal based machine. The price/cost depends on what model you want to upgrade to. Naturally, the higher end model offered will cost a heck of a lot more.
You can get a long, wide view of the events that transpired and how/why MSI ended up offering the Trade in Program if you go to the following topic:
