Hi
I have an MSI GT70 0ND-219US that has some funky problems with it. I bought it off ebay a few months back knowing that it didn't power on. I replaced the AC adapter as the one that it shipped with didn't output any power but this did not fix the issue so I took a look at the motherboard and found that a small chip near the power jack had been fried. I now have a new motherboard in the laptop that allows me to power it up BUT with a few problems. I'm hoping that there's a simple solution to get it all working.
Problems are:
- Nothing shows on the screen, even if I try an external monitor. The external monitor doesn't even react when I power on the laptop.
- The keyboard does not light up
- The button to turn the track pad on/off is always on and cannot be turned off.
- The function keys at the top are acting strange, I press one but it changes another. For example, I press what looks like a screen and it makes the fan speed up.
The motherboards are almost identical. They are both MS-17621 but the old one is version 1.0 and the new one is version 2.1. Do I need to somehow change the BIOS? But how can I do this without a display?
Any help or advice please?!

I'd really love to be wrong, but the first thing that goes through my head is that there's more stuff to fry in a machine than just the motherboard...
I'm of the opinion that you should visit an electronics repair shop and have a techie check there are no shorts on the main communicating components.
I think you should also get in contact with an MSI service, and keep switching support people until you find someone that understands the issue. -
It seems I'm in the exact same situation, I ordered a version 1.0 online but they sent me a version 2.1 and I can't seem to get the screen to turn on. Any idea how to solve this?
