The one above the battery, not beside it.

I always like looking at what the insides actually look like, I have never actually had to do a complete strip down on an MSI machine because they make everything so easy to get to. Thanks for posting these as it could help some people out. +rep.

I think the videos are supplied by MSI themselves, always worth keeping an eye out on that channel if you need a guide.

Just open the drive and wiggle it back and forth while pulling back. It's only connected via the sata connector, if the screw has been removed.

I think something has gone wrong, it is virtually STUCK. I have been wiggling it back and forth for all eternity, on and off for 2 hours yesterday, basically bending all the plastic here and there... my patience has been used up.

I can make a video to explain what the hell is going on... for me this just makes no sense, and annoys the living hell out of me :( wiggly wiggly

Here you go. Sorry for the poor quality, it's just an iPhone video. I'm the using a ms 16f3, but everything is pretty much identical to gt70.

    +rep (when I can)

    thanks, but the problem is:

I have a ODD disk bay there instead of the actual ODD... now I can't get it out, if I use the pin the bezel pops up and basically the whole thing goes to hell, I will post a video in 2 sec. I unscrewed that screw but It WONT GET OUT, whenever I pull it
    - it feels like its stuck

    video: (using a sh*tty iphone4s...)

Sorry. I started laughing when you picked up the laptop and started shaking it.

Do you have any needle nose plyers? It looks plenty loose, you just need to grab ahold of it and pull it out.

It is not near loose. It would be easier breaking obsidian than getting this out. I don't know if you noticed in the video where practically zoomed and got close the cover after taking out the bezel. I merely destroyed all those plastic holes...

Been picking here and there for the last hour or so, afraid I might have ruined something, if not just ruin something once I actually get this thing out... dear god which midget is hidden underneath this machine

I don't think you'll be able to pry it out. I think you need to pull it out.

Ok just tried it with a needle nose pliers, broke the plastic, I might the break the wall soon. I'll continue trying to pull, I guess that makes more sense than to pry it out yeah.

Don't break the wall. It shouldn't be that hard to get out.
Do you have a hard drive in there? Have you ever taken it out before?

IT WORKED MUAHHAHA USED ALL MY PULLING FORCE, ripped a bit of the plastic open, the ODD hard drive caddy flew right into my wall! :p nothing damaged though, smacked my HDD in it and installed it right away!

Works like a charm! Thanks jwimsett! I owe you my life for this (will rep once I have some to give again!!!)

update: (the problem) can you see the two things popping up? they were stuck inside the caddy... lol explains a lot, i bent them down before installing it again :D

Ok... I followed the guide trying to get to my RAM (under the keyboard... WTH were they thinking). Now that I have it back together, the lower left side near the hinge on the monitor will not stay closed. Every time I open or close the laptop, it cracks back open again. I didn't force anything... it is all back in place... Anyone else had this problem?
