I have an issue I need help with. My GT70 0ND-444US ran into an issue last week when the Nvidia GeForce GTX 675M died. (I've checked in device manager and computer no longer believes it exists)
Sadly my warranty is expired outside of the US so I have no way of sending it to MSI to get it repaired.
I am still however content with keeping the laptop and using it as a work computer, due to the fact that everything but the Nvidia GPU works perfectly. One issue is causing me great distress though, which is that ever since the GPU died the fans have been at 100%.
I can't control them through turbo fan and I've tried a number of fan control programs that have resulted in nothing.
I was wondering if anyone knew anyway to get around this and fix the fans without purchasing a replacement GPU.

The only other thread that deals with my problem is this

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance. :)

Put an unlocked bios on it and set the primary GPU to the IGP and the fan will act normally. Setting is in the big list accessed from the blank arrow on the first page.

Hi Meaker thanks for the help, but where would I go about finding an unlocked BIOS, I've gathered that I'd have to pay for it to be unlocked. Is there any chance you push me in the right direction?

My first two hits on Google seemed good to me, what term did you use?

    Hi Meaker
I've obtained an unlocked BIOS and I'm ready to swap to the intergrated GPU. (I looked harder this time :p)
I was wondering if you could just clarify which setting it is I have to change.

I'm assuming it's the Switchable Graphics option shown in the attached picture.
I'm sorry if this sounds simple and if I'm being over cautious, but I am not very familiar with BIOS and I'd hate to mess anything up.

Thanks for the help so far and sorry if I'm wasting your time. :)

There should be a blank menu option in the main section.

    Hi Meaker,

I've found the options menu and have looked for the primary GPU setting.
Just to confirm is this the setting you are referring to.

Is this the correct option section? Sorry again. :)

Have you tried removing the GPU instead?
    Did the BIOS option work?

Hi Kevin, I've tried the BIOS option and it has worked perfectly. I now have full control over the fans and the auto fan button works like it did before.
I assume it was just a case of telling the computer to stop using its default switchable graphics and to just use the integrated card as Meaker mentioned.

Thanks Meaker, you deserve huge amounts of kudos for your help (and patience :p), you've completely resolved my issue and made my computer usable again!
If it wasn't for you my GT70 would have spent the rest of its life on a shelf.

It stops the EC expecting a temp reading from the GPU so stops it going into panic mode.

That's great, but if your unit is still under warranty then you can detach the VGA card and MSI can replace it for you.
But you will need someone to assist you on the stateside to relay the VGA card for you.

Svet can unlock the BIOS for you, and he takes donation of any amount.
Best to check with him directly to find out.
