Are you running W8? If so there are a variety of workarounds starting from manually changing the config file so that it can launch the first time properly, to disabling Steam overlay.

Like I said, there are two potential fixes for this problem:

    1. Modify the config file to more launch friendly options
    2. Disable Steam overlay (if you're running a steam copy)

Unfortunately I don't have Stalker installed, and I cannot recall where the config file is located, so you'll have to google for that.
To disable Steam overlay, go into the general settings -> In-Game tab -> Uncheck Steam Community In-Game

If the problem stems from Optimus not properly engaging, you can force it to run by opening up your Nvidia Control Panel -> Manage 3D settings -> Program Settings -> Add the Stalker EXE -> Set Preferred Graphics Processor to your Nvidia GPU.

I setup preferred GPU in NVCP - still can't run this game.
This is normal version, not STEAM.

Anyone can tell what i need to modify in cfg file ?

You can also try running the game in Compatibility Mode for Windows 7 or earlier. I read that the official support site closed down, but there is a modding community you can ask help from: Forums - Mod DB

If that's a displayport monitor you are not running optimus on that display, it is going straight to the dGPU.

Are you using, by any chance, MSI afterburner running on the background? MSI after burner causes such things for me for a couple of games.

Yes other programs like teamspeak with an overlay can do it too.

HDMI with ASUS PB278Q 2560x1440 - i don't want to run optimus on that display.
Never use MSI Afterburner, only HybridPower.

Hdmi and dp are both dGPU connected and optimus has no part to play on displays connected to them. Even if you did want it.

So my problem with launching this game is not on the side of optimus technology ?

Should not be, as both HDMI and display port are routed directly to the nvidia GPU.

What drivers are you using? Have you tried other, perhaps older, drivers instead?

Oh good, it had to be on their end considering the display connection layout.

I had similar problems with Space Marine Warhammer 40k, but last week they were also solved.
