Hello,
I am sure this is not normal of people to do, but after searching for quite a while on these forums, I was unable to find an answer.
Someone a couple years ago asked a similar question, but this is not necessarily what I want to know. http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/gt70-gtx670m.792338/
Basically, my gtx 780m graphics card died in my GT70 laptop. I attempted to repair it, but to no avail. The laptop runs just fine without the card in it, except that the fan doesn't recognize a temperature, so the fan is running at max speed as soon as I boot up, until I turn it off.
I figure that if I put something in place of the old card, it will stop running the fan at max speed, but I obviously want to put something compatible. This is where I am at now. Is this motherboard able to downgrade to a 765m card? Which I found here on amazon:
https://www.amazon.com/GTX-765M-Ali..._rd_t=40701&psc=1&refRID=YQ3JW0TSFJ69MAS49A8H
Or what would be even more ideal is a cheaper card that isn't even in the same line as the gtx series, like this one: https://www.amazon.com/Precision-Wo..._rd_t=40701&psc=1&refRID=YQPTPTV45SK9XB0ZF4WT
So, would I be able to use the Quadro, the gtx, or none of the above? I want to basically replace the card as cheaply as possible to make it a media center for my livingroom, and no longer a gaming powerhouse. (so I don't want to spend $1000 on a new 970m upgrade).

Also why not just remove the fan? -
