Can anyone explain why this is? I've set it to the aforementioned clocks but it won't actually go there, at all, ever.

Also, can anyone give me tips / tutorials on how to squeeze as much performance out as possible?

Overclocking the CPU and GPU in particular.

Your CPU itself is stuck i'm afraid since it's locked and the bios does not have XTU support anyway.

You can tweak the memory though by using thaiphoon burner to rewrite it to 1866mhz and then see how tight the memory timings can go.

Then you can use a program like svet's vbios tuner to edit your video bios to the higher core voltage the card allows, this should let you reach 800mhz ish core speeds.

Turbo mode must be on to overclock (or edit the basic clocks in svet's tool).

The usual warranty is void stuff applies here of course and if something happens during the bios flash you could brick your card. If you flash your memory then be aware it may not be able to boot at those timings (having a spare 1 or 2GB stick to force the system to lower speeds helps).

Your machine has to be in the set Turbo mode in order to allow you any overclocking. That's why it doesn't move.

Oh, so I have to have the S-Bar and VGA OC running as well?

It's a pity there is no convenient way to overclock the CPU, thanks for the response though!

So I'm told by other MSI owners. So far it seems to be correct.

If you REALLY don't want to have the SBAR, nvidia inspector can over ride it and take you into the P0 state on the card.
