    Hi everyone,
I'm looking to buy a new laptop trying to decide between msi gt683r and np8130.

Need some experience from the actual users. Input is most welcome thanks.

The speaker/sound system is better on the MSI model but the build quality on the Sager is nicer.
If you're going to be using the built in speakers alot the MSI is good choice.

Like DoDeH1 mentioned the hardware options are very similar with the RAID 0 option on the GT683r.

What does RAID 0 actually mean? I realized if I were to swap the NP8130's HDD to a SSD it would cost about the same as the MSI. Would the SSD upgrade on the 8130 be that much of a difference that I should take that into heavy consideration?

It is said by MSI that in raid 0 your performance of the read/write increases by 70% compared to a single drive. On raid 0 your 2 drives are seen as 1. The data are "striped" on both drives which means that if you lose one of the hard drives you will lose all of your data. Of course you may have raid 0 with SSD but such a solution is expensive. With 2 SSD you will have probably even much better performance. Raid 0 is explained on wikipedia (simply it means better performance for read/write; is the fastest and most efficient array type but offers no fault-tolerance.).
From my point of view it's much better to have the "operating system"/games on SSD and the rest of the data on regular HDD because the storage of 2 SSD is not so big. In gt683r you may disable the raid 0 throw bios but by this you will actualy have to reinstall your operating system (in case that you used it before as a raid 0).
For that reason (raid 0) I would choose MSI but from the other hand Sager is a much better solution for its easy graphics upgrade (someone correct me if I'm wrong). In MSI same as in Sager you have a MXM 3.0b slot for the graphic but the construction of Sager allows you to choose a bigger range of graphic models.
On MSI the lid is quite anoing due to the shining surface (it gets dirty very easy). On the other hand the surface (material) of the body around the keyboard is very good, I would even say excelent.
The MSI has a very good (powerful) fun (one fan). I don't know how about Sager but I think it's similar or even better (I think it has 2 fans).

Now I have to say one bad thing about MSI. The keyboard is disappointing. On my past notebooks (IBM, LG, dell, HP) when I pressed a key I felt when it was choosed. Now there's no such feeling and it is rigid. Definitely it's not good for writing. Sager has a better keyboard.

I've read about the MSI keyboard and people have said that it is way better than before. Still bad?

I wouldn't say bad (for sure not bad) but it passed more then 4 months and I'm still not used to it. I belive it depends on every person what likes. I prefer soft keys not rigid ones. The decision is yours.

You have to take into account that you will always find something which doesn't satisfy you in 100%. Every person has its own expectations.

    Regards!

I have a new GX680R and it has a clangy keyboard. Only a few of the keys on the LH side of the keyboard are that way though. Most are fine.

No I need to hire a lawyer to get NCIX.com to take this brand new laptop back and get me the one I want and one without noisy keys. If I bought a $20.00 keyboard with noisy keys I would return it, yet I buy a $1500.00 laptop with a noisy keyboard and they tell me its "Not a known issue" and they wont do anything.

Hey smoke skull I don't know if this will make you feel any better but I had the same issue with the wasd keys on the gt683r and after about a month it seems to have worked itself out. The left side of the keyboard now feels pretty much the same as the rest of the keys. I do feel your pain thou, as the keyboard drove me crazy at first, I almost thought the clicky & loud keys on the left side of the keyboard was designed that way for gaming. Give it some time it should get better. Good luck.

    Hey nicksavop!
I want to know how much did you overclocked memory clock from standard 1250MHz? I have GTX560M in GT780R and your overclocking values seems to fit best.

Currently memory is 1550 MHz, I have had it maxed out at 1625. I agree 920/1840 seems to be very stable.
