Torn between which of these to get.

The 780R has a matte screen instead of glossy, a backlit steel series keyboard (which has mixed reviews from what I can tell) instead of normal, extra speaker and a better touchpad(not sure how much id use anyways).

But the 683R seems to have better reviews and would be more portable.

Doesn't really seem to be any other laptops in the same price range with a similar feature set, so I am pretty sure I am going with msi.

I have not seen the matte screen, but on my GX680 the glossy 1920x1200 is damn sweet. Very clear and bright, perhaps the nicest screen I have ever used. I like a lot of the features of the GX680, but I am very dissapointed with some features. Noisy keyboard. No Caps lock Num lock LED [Thats right ???] all plastic constructiuon. LEDs are orange only [I thought they changed colors like Alienware/Dells] limited software [none] like DVD player, webcam etc... cheapo wireless card. Lack of Optimus on the GX680 with GT555..

Pros great screen and speakers, great price/ value/ bang for the buck. pretty well designed machine good usb placements, usb 3 and esata ports, nice looking machine, leds, turbo boost even though it doesnt do much, manul fan cooling control.
