    Hello everyone !

I possess a Medion Erazer X6813, which is a renamed MSI GT683R, and I bought a GTX670M (and the corresponding heatsink) on ebay to upgrade it. Lots of people have already done that, this MSI/Medion laptop is known to accept the GTX670M without any trouble... Theoretically there is no white list, so the laptop should accept any GPU brand, mine is coming from a Clevo laptop.

The problem is, when I start the laptop with the new GPU, it only shows a blank screen and the fan goes full speed. No bios, no booting options, nothing... If I plug the old GTX460M back, it boots perfectly.

I updated my laptop bios with a MSI one, it changed nothing.

Does anybody know why I'm having this problem ? Is this due to the fact that the GPU is coming from a Clevo laptop ? Should I attempt to update my GTX670M's VBios with one from a MSI card ? If so, how can I do it ?

    Thanks for your help !

The entire MSI lineup of GT680, GT683, 16F2, GT780, GT783, 1761 seems to have issues with non-MSI nvidia GTX 6 series cards. Flashing an MSI vbios onto the card may not work either. Can you tell if the laptop at least boots into the OS? The previous generation MSI lineup GX660 and GX740 do not have these problems, even though it also does not have optimus. I suspect the cause to be something in the mainboard bios, but not in the form of a whitelist.

Thanks for your answer. As far as I know, the computer doesn't boot at all, there is no hard disk activity, nothing shown on screen and no sound. Because of that, I don't think I can try to change the GPU VBios...

Does this include the GT60/GT70 also?

As far as I know 16f2 and 1761 is not compatible with nvidia Optimus based vga cards. You can use 670m and 675m but you need to flash it to 570m and 580m. MSI GTX 680m doesn`t work in 16f2.
