    Hi,

I just bought last week a MSI laptop, model GT683DXR-423US.
Everything was working fine. I replace the two hardisks with one SSD, OCZ Vertex II 120GB and one Seagate HDD 750GB.
My problem is this: when I power on the laptop, only the HDD (Seagate) is shown as present.
    My workaround is this: when I power on, I enter in BIOS (if I check now the BIOS report only the HDD), save & exit;
enter again in BIOS (now BIOS is reporting also the SSD as present). I choose the right way of boot order (1. SSD, 2.HDD), save & exit and
everything is working fine as long time I don't power off the laptop. I can reboot as many time I want and there are the 2 drives present.
After I power off, again I have to do the trick.
I updated to the latest version of BIOS (16f2_30u) and the latest EC firmware (16F2_423).
Maybe someone has similar experience and can help me.

    Thanks,
    Gabi

It is not your MSI laptop, checkout the OCZ forum or google your drive. This is a known problem with most OCZ SSD drives. Drive not detected, BSOD, Lag, etc. There may be a new drive firmware available but most likely will not fix the problem. Drive not detected is the most common occurance of the OCZ SSD drive issues. The Intel SSD drives are the most compatible drives with the least issues.

The SSD is fine; I mean in the old laptop hasn't this problem.
Seems that is kind of lag in detection of SSD.
I have 2 OCZ SSD, none of them had any problem with the old laptop.

If I were you, I'd check around some OCZ forums to see if others are having similar problems. You should also check for the latest firmware for the SSD.

    Hi,

Just for records: I did try one SSD from Intel (80GB) and there is no problem.
Only with OCZ Vertex II 120GB exist the mentioned problem.
    So, laptop is fine.

    Thanks to everybody,
    Gabi
