After reading the FAQ, I understand that a barebones kit is basically just the case + MB.

I'm ordering from GenTech, but it seems like everything I need is already there:

    MB/Graphics/Power Supply/Battery/Wireless/CPU/OS/etc...

My question is just this: Is there anything I need to add to this? or when its ordered this way - does it work out of the box?

Also - how is the heating on this model? Im upgrading from an HP Pavillion (which overheats horribly).

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Gfs

When you order from Gentechpc, or Xoticpc, or some other retailer, everything will be there for you.

You can get the barebone directly from MSI if you want to add your own CPU, memory, HDD, etc. Usually the price difference is too small. I would suggest you talk to Ken from Gentechpc, I ordered from him and he was excellent in support, even advising me about a few things. He will also price match.

You can get a barebone (whitebook) laptop that just comes with the case, battery, Charger, and GPU. The parts to install the CPU of your choice and hard drives, memory are included. these are the base configs that up can pick up starting around $700.00 range depending on GPu option installed.

Gentec, Xoticpc etc also offer the whitebook models with thier own CPU/Memory and hard drives already installed so you open up the box and start to play right away.

So the choice is yours if you want a pre config unit or get the base model and finish it yourself.

IMO the main advantage of the pre config unit is warranty. and the resellers usually offer extended warranties as well.

The base unit does come with a 1 year MSI warranty on the base chassis.
