    Hi guys,

I own a MSI GT640 with Nvidia Geforce GTS 250M. MSI offers just a very old Nvidia driver Ver 188.33 for it.

Even though the GT640 isn't brand new it still fits almost all my needs - except that MSI obviously has no newer driver and that i can't install any 'original' Nvidia driver after Ver 266.58 or 267.76 :(

To be precise: i am able to install newer drivers, including latest beta 285.38 - i even played already a round BF3 Beta today - but just until i reboot.

After reboot the GT640 stops at the windows loading screen (with the logo) and 'hangs' - though HDD-Led flashing. After setting back to an older driver-version notebooks loads as usual. Tried it already a few times, always the same :(. Any chance to get a newer driver running? Can't play BF 3 ...

Try drivers from laptopvideo2go, and try the have disk method.

Also, try upgrading to a gtx 260m, because the performance will be much better and you can get them extremely cheap.

And just a guess but the driver issues will probably be solved.

Make them an offer, I got one for 65$

If you're wondering why it says 8700m, there seems to be an ongoing misconception about that... I really don't understand it. When I bought mine they asked me to make sure because they were getting so many returns.
