I already mentioned this in the WNSIB section of the forums, but I wanted to get the opinions of the people in the MSI forums.

I'll mostly be using the laptop for school, taking it to classes and such. Also for watching movies from time to time, and some gaming (I don't play all the time but when I decide to play something I like to be able to do so well.)

    Thanks guys.

The MSI with 9800M GS will eat the ASUS AMD/ATI 4650 for lunch when it comes to gaming.

IKAS is write, though I'm ATI fan, but the cards are not the same class. GF9800M GS is compatible with ATI HD3850/HD4850 (last one is more powerful).
    Also GT627 is 15.4" compared to ASUS - 14.1".
MSI has better resolution - 1680x1050 (perfect to wach HD movies), ASUS - 1366×768
Hmm I saw this two differences at first site and I think they are enough to deside. MSI wins! :)

I forgot, you can also get a BD player on the MSI to watch and output movies to a HDTV.

:) That's what I ment, but with BD player this baby will become real beast, ofcource it's price will be higher than ASUS in this case. But it worth any cent given. :)

How about differences in build quality? From what I read the ASUS has excelent built quality... while the MSI has some flex in the palm rest.
How is the screen of the MSI in comparison to the ASUS in terms of brightness? From what I read the MSI does have higher resolution but uneven lighting for the screen.

And finally how is the cooling of the MSI? From what I know the cooling of the ASUS is very good.

Asus n81vp cooling is a dream. This thing does not get hot. The chassis is solid. I looked at both systems. This site actually has solid reviews for both systems. In the end though, I dont game enough to buy a notebook that looks like a freshly squashed fireant.

The asus is built alot better and has better cooling, but the MSI would be the better preformer..
