I am very interested in this laptop. I have some questions though.
What is the most this laptop will overclock a CPU ?? Example it says:
2.4GHZ with Turbo = 2.88GHz = 20% overclock
What will a 2.6GHz CPU with TURBO Overclock to, will it be 3.12Ghz ???
If I were to replace the CPU with a Intel Extreme X9100 runing stock at 3.06GHz with Turbo will it overclock it 20% to 3.67Ghz ??
Thanks for any info and answers. God Bless![]()

Yes and no, it is capable of overclocking up to 20% with the touch of a button, you will just have to check to make sure it is stable at those clocks. That is what I have gathered anyways.

With the Extreme CPU, I think you can just up the multiplier instead of raising the FSB.

When I had the earlier model GX600 it too also had the TURBO feature and I think it had a limit of 2.8GHz because I added an Intel Extreme X7800 CPU which at stock ran at 2.6GHz and with the TURBO only increased to 2.88GHz. So I was wondering how it is in this laptop.
On another note, my GX600 the wonderful bios on that had a way where I can manually overclock the GPU, does anyone know if the GT627 has the same feature ?? Dang that was a excellent laptop for the money, I should not have sold it !!! Again thanks for any info and answers to these questions. God Bless -
I guess the question is: can the FSB/multiplier setting be changed for Turbo? Perhaps within this BIOS?
I have a feeling that turbo mode changes the default CPU speed to a set multiplier/FSB. As a result, unless you can change the FSB (at minimum), if you put in a better CPU, you may not be able to overclock it to its full potential.
Can anyone verify whether or not the turbo settings can be changed? -
good question ill check later today to see if it can be changed

I do know that in my GX600 that when overclocked the FSB would also increase the memory speed from the stock 800Mhz to 1066Mhz.It would also increase the Windows Vista rating for memory from 5.5 to 5.9.
