This is pretty much the only place I've found mentioning this laptop. The specs look interesting, very much like the Clevo P65X, but with TB3. NotebookCheck posted this, but it might be a typo in the title, as it says GE62 in the actual news piece.
Thoughts? Knowledge?![]()
EDIT: That image on the Thunderbolt page is named "16L1_open.jpg", which would suggest that this is the new MSI barebone. Which would mean that it's actually closer to the Clevo P75X. Confusion.

They use to have a GT60 lineup so i wouldn't be completely surprised if they came out with a GT62. I haven't seen anything on it as of yet and MSI's website doesn't have anything, they typically launch them slightly early on their site before they launch to consumers so something to keep an eye on over the next 6 months

Would be a pretty amazing machine.
I´m just not convinced, that MSI will be able to provide a cool and silent laptop using only 2 fans (1 for a Desktop socket CPU and 1 for the GPU).
If you are looking for the best performance for a (probably) low budget, here you go, but a silent machine this will not be.
However, this could be an amazing alternative for great gaming laptops, if the price is right. Especially, this could be a machine that stays with you courtesy of changeable CPU and GPU!
Waiting for more info to come up! If MSI does that one right, they might be able to offer clevo upgradability with MSI quality!MiSJAH likes this. -

You can grab it bearbone already from places like ourselves
It uses a 4 pin GT80 style power plug.
We have called it the PowerPro I 6:5, on our site you can see pics of all the ports and specs.MiSJAH likes this. -
Looks like better cooling too. Is the video card upgradeable? And it uses desktop CPUs? -

DTGPU option?

15incher with high end GPU and high end desktop CPU? my interests have been raised considerably.
-
I'm guessing no slot for an optical this time? I'm guessing that better cooling was used in its place?
It looks like an interesting option. I'd like to see a mobile proc version of this. Desktop proc and a full 980? Nuclear reactor on your lap! -

I hope Intel changes its mind on soldered only mobile chips.
I was just poking around on ark.intel.com and where it looks like this could REALLY good is with the i7 6700T. Pretty much it's slightly faster than the mobile version, but runs at 35W instead of 45W in the mobile version. It could be a real sleeper.
The question is where to buy it. I'm only seeing it in desktops so it may be an OEM only part. -

Very intersting, been waiting for a high end 15'' MSI laptop for a while and this seems pretty compact for what it has inside.
Would be great to see how it actually handles such high performance hardware temp wise and how loud the fans get trying to cool what so far seems great , desktop CPU, G-sync display, thunderbolt port all are really tempting. -

I don't see them doing that. -
Is MSI going to put out a standard, branded product based on these? MSI typically shafts the barebones when it comes to ongoing support - especially when it comes to bios support.

Everything is possible, but of course once confirmed then we will know and will be more than happy to share those info with you guys.

I remember the clevo 870 needs an aux 4 pin power cable for the desktop 980, but idk about the msi one. -

Yes, we do have that barebones model. MSI doesn't have a "GT62" like they do a GT72, but the 16L1 is a powerful 15 inch barebones that is available right now.
The 980 is not available in that, as mentioned in the tech inferno link. But still it has some powerful options you can put in it. -
I love this system, I just wish it was available without a freaking 4k display. Also with Pascal and Polaris chips just around the corner these Maxwell systems are soon to be obsolete so buying now is foolish.

We only would have a US qwerty keyboard. We don't have any options for other keyboards. It comes with the US AC adapter, but you could get the cable that connects from the power brick to the wall that would work in Germany.
