    Hey guys!

I just litterally got my brand new GT60-2OD in the mail, but i'm having a slight issue. The SSD and everything else is working just great, but for whatever reason the HDD is like it doesn't exist, it fails to show up in windows, device manager, intel RST panel, even the bios fails to detect it's there. Just says empty slot.

The stupid thing is i can actually see it throught the grill at the bottom of the machine, it's a WD 1.0Tb drive..
I have not taken the back panel off because of the warranty sticker, but if i cannot figure it out i'm just going to buy either a 480Gb SSD or a 2Tb 2.5' Drive anyways. I DO have another 320Gb HDD laying around so i could test it out if i needed to see if its the slot.

If anyone has anything that could potentially help me figure this out i would be extremely happy :)
I get this occasional "Click" sound that someone said was the drive head moving back into position, do you think that could mean i have a DOA drive?

    Thanks again, Sam.

Nevermind, swapped out the drive anyways... Turns out it's dead, installed the other drive and works perfectly, not a single click or issue. What are the chances of getting a Dead HDD in a brand new machine?

It can happen, some weakness in its construction was brought out in shipping.

Do you by chance have any idea if one of those 2Tb 2.5" Hard Drives would work? I know it's slightly taller than a regular drive ~(15mm) i believe.

The 15mm wont fit, just too thick.

Thank you, I found a 512Gb SSD for 250$, i think i'll just get a Drive caddy for the CD drive and install it there! Now that i think of it, Do you think the the 15mm drive would work in the CD drive caddy? I hear some people with the M18x can get it too fit in that scenario.

15mm drives work in the CD drive caddy, but its a tight fit
they also fit in the hdd slot in the GT70 but not GT60 (because i tried both the gt60 and gt70 with the WD green 15mm in my sig, if used in the original hdd slot it only fits for the gt70, whilst for ODD both gt60 and 70 fits with a bit of tension but no biggie)
