Hey, i noticed that MSI hands out an outdated driver. When i try to install the latest, it says it cant detect the hardware. After some research, nvidia's site says they do certain hardware specific things to allow for LED lighting and stuff...(im assuming cause my power button turns red with the nvidia card kicks in)

    So my questions are

1.) Can drivers be updated using the latest from nvidia's site. And how?

2.) Is there a downside if I do update from nvidia, such as the power button not turning red anymore or anything else thats different?

    Thanks!

I installed the latest nVidia driver (their beta from a while back required an inf update but no longer.) It had no effect on anything except the GPU performance. If you peruse the official MSI GT60/70 thread you will find most have not found the new driver to be beneficial.

How did you update it. Were there any downsides to doing the update such as maybe the red power light not working.

No, I did not have a problem with the Power indicator light changing. Just ran the update as you normally would. I don't recall if I ran it as admin, but don't believe that was required.

The update tells me that it cannot detect hardware.
