    MSI GT60/70 works without any MXM card (with fan control)

    Hi,
    For those who have a broken MXM port on MSI GT60 / GT70, there's a way to get it to work properly with fan control (I mean not stuck @ 100%).
    First you need to unlock your BIOS (contact a BIOS modder or use AMIBCP4 if you want DIY).
    After you flash your modded bios you need to enable 2 options in the BIOS:
    • primary display: IGFX (SG is default value)
    • internal graphics: enabled (AUTO is default value)
    Reboot and voilà!!
    Enjoy your fully functionnal laptop with IGP only, with working fan control!!
    So no need for hardware modification (12V to 5V on fan cable also works OK btw)...

    I was lucky with my broken 680M - it's still recognized but with 0MB memory - naturally it crashes/freezes if tried to use. So I just have to disable it and the fan still works normally.

    Absolutely but when your mxm port is broken like mine (2 pins are ripped off and any mxm card inserted is immediately short), this is the only solution left.
