    Hello guys,

I am new in the forum and the topic I just bought a GT60 2OC without a windows. The only problem is that, when I set the bios to UEFI or UEFI CSM, the bios does not detect my hard drive in the meaning that in legacy the Hard Drive is detect in the boot options and not in UEFI.

I can install windows 8 while running the DVD, but once the installation restarts to set the presets of windows, the pc can't boot on the drive because the UEFI does not detect it. When I set the bios to Legacy and I ran windows 8 DVD it says that my drive is in GPT and could not install on a GPT drive.

Please Help me if you can I am lost. The drive is detected in the System Section it s the boot section where it dissapears when set to UEFI.

    THanks a lot.

If you are loading OS in UEFI mode, then you have to boot from UEFI CD/DVD first.
Once the OS is installed, then you will be booting off Windows Boot Manager (shows up as a boot entry among boot menu).

Thank god you are answering ^^

Once the OS is installed, and when I press F11 theres:

    UEFI: IPV4
    UEFI: IPV6
    UEFI: CDDVD Toshiba

And there's no HDD, it is like if the HDD is not UEFI bootable. The HDD is detected by windows and the installation goes without any hassle ... I am lost

    I get this message:

    "Checking media presence ...
    No media present..."

What OS were you loading? Windows 7 or Windows 8?
If it's Windows 8, then you should expect "Windows Boot Manager".

When installing the OS was the optical disk listed as a UEFI option?

That's normal, because your HDD has nothing in it, thus having no EFI boot loader.

When you're not installing under UEFI, the drive has to be set up as an MBR type disk (otherwise you get that message).

After installation reboots the laptop, are you leaving the keyboard alone? The installation should automatically proceed unless you open the boot selection menu or BIOS setup and interrupt it.

In UEFI mode, it will show "Windows Boot Manager" to boot to the system drive, but not an UEFI: HDD/SSD entry.
