Is anything known about the 2 x 64GB SSDs in RAID0 in the GT70-0NC-011US?
-
-
WhatsThePoint Notebook Virtuoso
SATA II or SATA III ?
SanDisk Flash Memory for PCs
SanDisk U100 SSD:
SanDisk® U100 SSD
SanDisk X100:
SanDisk X100 SSD -
There will be two different version of mainboard for GT70, one with a dual mSATA + one 2.5" SATA slot and the other version comes with two 2.5" SATA slots. -
I thought they were ivy bridge, how come it says sandy bridge in the specs for all of them?

when msi gt 70 and 60 will be released ??
-
Could these come with the 660M upgrade possibly?
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
We may see lower models launch when the 660M is actually out.
-
I don't see them selling the GE60 w/650M (Kepler) at GentechPC.
Would've loved to get the GE60 w/660M (Kepler also). 1080p on a 15.6" and that sweet Keplar is what I'm waiting for, but I can't wait much longer. -

- MSI GT70 0NC-012US won't be available
- All GT models will comes with 1600MHz RAM instead of 1333MHz. -
WhatsThePoint Notebook Virtuoso
MSI has 4 GT70 models and 1 GT60 listed.
MSI Notebook Official Website -

Interesting MSI went with the 3GB 670M rather than the 2GB 675M, maybe they have had real problems sourcing 580M cores?
-
The official site list the GT70 with an Intel® HM67 Chipset not an HM77.
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Will be a typo.
-
In Germany you can already buy the Gt70. But it shall have a i7-2670.
Can this really be true? -

What's the deal with the GT70 and GT60? the main 3 resellers that participate in these forums offer them for pre-order with "3rd Generation Intel® Core i7 Processor" but no info regarding the number of cores/MHz/Cache/threads...
I just bought a brand new GT780DX-406 (literally a few days ago) with awesome specs and Intel Core i7 2670QM... should I cancel the order and go for the GT70??? -
WhatsThePoint Notebook Virtuoso
They can't say anything until the NDA is lifted on April 29th. -
I haven't seen any caching SSDs listed on any resellers websites! *Looks at Ken*
I'm considering a 750 7200rpm with a 60/120gb caching ssd + a 1tb 5400rpm instead of the ODD.
What do you guys think? -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
-
Wait, doesn't that give you the option to have 4 drives?
Primary, Secondary, Caching, and ODD bracket? -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
You have 3-4 slots depending on the machine.
2xSATA + ODD SATA
2xmSATA + SATA + ODD SATA
How you use those is up to you. If you chose a config that was not compatible I guess they would contact you.
Technically you could go:
128GB M4 mSATA + 128GB M4 mSATA + 128GB M4 SATA + 128GB M4 SATA all in a giant raid array but it might be a bit overkill by that point lol. 2GB/sec straight line read speed..... -
WhatsThePoint Notebook Virtuoso
Like 2.5" SATA SSDs,mSATA SSDs vary in performance also.
If you choose mSATA choose your drives carefully.
NBR doesn't allow linking to the site this performance chart was taken from.
See the SanDisk U100 all the way on the bottom. This is the one MSI is using.

screenshot of Super RAID on GT70, you get dual mSATA + one SATA, for non Super RAID models it will be just like GT780/GT783 with two SATA slot, also the Gt70 will have new version of S-Bar program :

Is there a release date for the GT60 yet?
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Technically the 29th, but some stores are selling it early (like right now in the UK if you dont mind selling a kidney to buy one).
-
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Heh, you are forgetting what my wife would do to me if she found I spent that much on a new machine :/
Also it seems like intel are aware of the leaks and brought the release forward to the 22nd to try and get ahead of it a bit. -
Why MSI doesn't use AMD graphics in its gaming laptops anymore? Does anybody know the reason?
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Optimus from the sounds of things, they also probably get a good deal from Nvidia.
-
I'm looking forward for the model with the GTX 675M.
Since I'm upgrading only once in the coming time, better get the best while I can. Any words on it resellers?
Also I heard Ivy Bridge's CPUs have NDA will be lifted on 22nd, does that get the GT60/70 release any closer? -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Probably as supplies already are there as far as I can tell. Though why not just upgrade your current machine?
The CPU wont make a large amount of difference to be honest. -
I agree with Meaker, would be much cheaper to upgrade your 780 (560M, why not CPU) than selling it and buying the new GT Series.
Meaker, any plans yet regarding your next rig/upgrade ? -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Looked into a 16F3 motherboard, will wait to see what ivy is like, since the 16F3 uses optimus it might not like AMD cards and I am interested in the 7970M so at the moment it's a game of wait and see.
-
can the gtx 670m being upgrade to 675m ??
(sorry for my bad english) -
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Since the heatsink is identical it's very easy, you just need a small strip of 0.5mm thermal pad to help cover the extra mem chips.
Though getting some high performance fresh ones and some MX-4 thermal paste would not hurt either. -
Has anyone seen any review with info on the noise level of the GT60? I'm hoping for something quieter than the clevo 15"
-
Ken,
If I get a 2.5" drive will I be able to convert to the msata drives later on or is it either or? Will the 680m be offered with this when it comes out? -
Yes you can covert to mSATA by swap the 2nd hard drive connector to the dual mSATA board. -
-
I've been lurking on these forums for about two months now... I think I'm pretty set on one of these new MSI's. I thought I had settled on the GT60, but... I'm seriously considering the GT70.
Though, I'd like to hear some thoughts in regards to the size of the GT70.
My main purpose is for school, with some gaming. But, I'll be lugging this thing around with me on campus. Am I being a little greedy with the slightly larger screen?
Thanks in advance. -
lol you wont want to lug around a gt70 around, buy the gt70 for home, and buy a cheaper netbook for school
-
Although... the GT70 is only a pound more than the GT60, and a few inches bigger. Can't be that bad, can it?
