I'm a huge fan of the current GT series, particularly the audio. The only thing holding me back is they currently are only offered with a GTX 670 GPU, and I'm really looking for a rig with a 7970.

Any word if MSI is going to start throwing the new radeon cards in their books? More importantly: if so, when?

Theres no word as yet, the gtx675 is now been released in some countries and due in June for others. However the gfx card is upgradeable so I myself bought it with the gtx670 for now and in the future I will upgrade it to a 7970 or 680. upgrademylaptop on ebay are selling mxm cards, they are taking preorders for 7970m which is costing nearly 600$ for the full kit. you would have to send them a pm to order it

I am almost positive they are Nvidia only at least for this series.

    That said 3 things.

1.) The GTX670 performed quite well better than I expected, took my old AMD 5870 for a ride.

2.) They will offer the GTX675M (already do I think) and while no mention of it I can's see why the GTX680 won't show up at some point.

3.) The 7970 does work in the machine, its just a user mod right now, and its already been done here on the forums. I myself may do this mod.

I've been on the market for the past month and a half, and I was just about to pull the trigger on a GTX670 unit... until I saw the benchmarks for the 7970.

Despite one of my builds still rocking out an old oc'd 9800GTX, I'm a partial AMD fanboy so I probably have a slightly thick perception in regards.
I'm sure a 675 or a 670 would do me just fine... But look at those 7970 benchmarks!

As for just going for the 670 MSI now and potentially modding in a 7970 later... I've done lots of work on ultra SFF systems, but I'm not sure I am ready to start messing around with new and not super inexpensive laptops... :(

Its really not too hard. As a matter of fact laptop parts are generally built to withstand more physical stress than desktop parts.

I dropped a naked motherboard about 4 feet onto carpet and its still working fine today.

While I am a huge fan of modding, its not really the time for a project. I'm trying to replace my old 1705 (lol). I'm on the market for something that will last me awhile now. Additionally the extra investment of purchasing another GPU and then trying to e-bay the 670/675 that came stock w/ the MSI in the first place, isn't that appealing.

Granted, I could just buy barebones and put it all together myself. While fun it again defeates the current need (delivered by mid next month). :(
