    It seems like GS72 was only released yesterday and now a new GS73 is around the corner already. It seems like GS73 will have better cooling but that's about it. It's still skylake and 970m. Does anyone know what other differences there are?

    Would it be 1070 or would it be 1070m?

    Will 1070m be out by then?

    That's still open to debate.

    The GS72 is actually a GS70 with an IPS panel & 4K Panel. It is used the same casing. The GS73 is a new development with a significantly better cooling system. Furthermore, there is now finally a Super Port (USB 3.1 + Thunderbolt 3)

    In one of the videos, an msi rep says it's going to get next-gen nvidia graphics (pascal) & it has a 120hz screen.

    There still hasn't been any official updates on new laptop graphics cards, and with that there is no news for specs (whether if it would be a desktop card or a mobile card). Will have to wait for NDAs to expire, then more news will be available.

    Kaby Lake's supposed to be out in the fall for mobile solutions. I expect we'll see the refresh with the Pascal and Kaby Lake CPUs at the same time.

    I'm thinking this will probably be one of the best tech seasons we've had in a long time.

    Don't believe MSI about that IPS or IPS-like panel. It's BS, it's a very low quality TN.
    I just received my GS72 with this expensive 4K screen and I can report that:
    - it has the highest black level I have seen in my whole life. Everybody here in the office (open space with about 100 people) has better screens;
    - it has lots of backlight bleeding, lots. The backlight bleeding is visible in plain daylight with the brightness at minimum.
    - it's blueish on the right side;
    - the backlight bleeding is more pronounced around the edges and, on top of that, there are specific spots (on the edge) where the light is very strong. And visible during the day.

    I got it on Saturday then yesterday (Monday) I went to a large shop here to check if their MSI GS72 looks the same. They have the same, with and without the 4K screen, but with a Dutch keyboard (cause I'm in Belgium). And yes, those MSIs are the worst-looking displays in a long list of laptops in FNAC (a computer shop in Belgium). Even €450 laptops have way better black levels.

    I received mine on Saturday 2nd altogether with:
    - a broken space key that registers keypresses only when I press the space bar in the middle, not left nor right;
    - a True Color software that does nothing, doesn't change the color profiles, the gamma, red, green, blue and contrast. Does nothing;
    - a Nahimic software that has 3 profiles, music, game and video, but the music profile is disabled;
    - a laptop back cover that is misaligned comparing to the upper side: on the left it looks wider, on the right it looks narrower, there are gaps;
    - distracting buzz noise coming from the left-hand side of the laptop whenever I press a key. Something vibrates there. When I play a Youtube video, there's something that vibrates inside the laptop altogether with the bass line in the song. The buzzing noise disappears if I grab the left side of the laptop or if I press a finger next to the TAB key, like somebody forgot to tighten some screws somewhere.

    (and at the Belgium MSI service there's an answering machine which continuously tells me that all operators are busy at the moment)
