    Hey guys,

I thought I'd reach out to you guys to help troubleshoot this touchpad issue. I just received my GS70 with the 970m on Thursday October 16th and it's been a good experience so far.

When plugged in the fans are about the sound level of a refrigerator. Meaning you won't notice it unless the room is silent and you're trying to hear it and when gaming my fiancee said she thinks it sounds about as loud as the PS4 when under load. I'd say it's a little louder, but I'm not as close to the PS4 when gaming as I am the laptop. So it could be a valid statement. When unplugged the laptop is super quiet. I don't have any fear bringing this laptop to a quiet library and doing work or bringing it to my office and working along side some people. It's nice and quiet when unplugged and doing docs and browsing the web. When doing 1080p video either it's YouTube or something, then the fans kick up a little, but still nothing to worry about. I think it's a great laptop with flaws here and there.

The only downsides I've noticed so far besides the touchpad is the "hot to touch" gaming temps. Internal temps are fine and never reached 90c with 3 hours of ultra high settings with the Witcher 2, but the left side of the laptop by the "Dynaudio" logo, it's literally hot to the touch and can burn. I'd say it's closer to that 90c. I have a pretty good tolerance for heat, I welcome heat, but this is almost a deal breaker for me. I don't plan on gaming with a laptop on my lap or something, but it makes me worry about longevity, the rubber feet getting hot that the glue melts and the soft felt bottom will peel off.

The keyboard for some reason took some getting used to coming from an Asus G750JS (870m) but I had to write a "how to" document for one of the applications I support at work for new comers and I'd say ten minutes in the keyboard feels great.

Battery life isn't great, but it's doable. I'd say 3 hours at most on a full charge. I have yet to game while charging, but a part of me thinks adding the extra heat internally with a recharging battery and a full throttle GPU isn't a good combo.

Lastly the touchpad, it literally cannot go diagonal. I don't know if it's the ELAN drivers or something actually wrong with my unit. After this post I plan to reach out to Xotic PC and see if this is an issue with the device or something MSI needs to work out.

How I determined it cannot go diagonal is I slowly moved my finger from bottom left to upper right and watched my mouse cursor step up, step right, and step up again. It's subtle, but very problematic when you are trying to highlight specific stuff in a document.

Do you guys know how to go about fixing this? I plan on trying the trackpad with gaming to see if it's as pronounced as it is with the cursor. I'm willing to be it will interfere with gaming. Luckily I don't game with the trackpad and I rarely use a trackpad in general, but when I do need it I can see it being an issue. I'll write MSI as well.

Did the previous generation have issues like this and is there a fix?

I fixed my trackpad somehow. I went into Windows 8 settings and made it so the pad is "Always On" and then uninstalled the drivers and reinstalled them. Seems to have done the trick.
