Planning on getting this refurbished for $1200
    http://www.amazon.com/MSI-17-3-Inch-GS70-STEALTH-PRO-607/dp/B00YPBKGYU

Do you guys think its a good idea to get this refurbished from tegra tech store and thoughts on this? could i be getting better for 1200? I looked around a lot and this was the best I could find. I'm not really a tech guy so ye....
i really do like the slim/clean look for a gaming laptop. if anyone else has recommdations for around t he 1200-1300 price range that'd awesome!

Some questions I had about is, if I'm just using the web/youtube/note taking in class will the fans be heard by the people next to me? I don't want to distract anyone by it(obviously I won't be gaming in class). and i heard the wifi can be bad on this sometimes?

Overall the tech your getting at that price isn't bad. I'd want to make sure to follow up with them so you know exactly what you're getting on it.

I don't think the fans are to bad on that one, while they are on the noisier side. If you'd like the similar specs you could also look at a GE72 242, you could get it at about the same price and brand new. The fans would be a little quieter in the GE model, GS's can get a little louder and I believe they have a 60% minimum on the fan speeds on the GS models with broadwell or newer so that could get loud quickly.

Yea I looked at the GE series but I just don't like how much bulkier it was so I stuck with the GS series. I don't mind other brands. I looked up so many reviews but couldn't find much on how the fans will go when just doing light stuff. I know it will be kinda loud under medium-heavy gaming. and when you say 60% min on fan speed does that mean its always spinning at 60% loudness?

Ya overall most people don't mind them as i get very few complaints on them. I had one that was using it for studio work and the fans minimum being 60% was a deal breaker for him, for the most part though i don't think it is an issue.

Honestly for that price it'll be hard to beat. You could possibly checkout a Sager NP8657 (Clevo P650RE) but that would still be more and thicker. for something with a 970m at $1200 it'll be difficult to beat really.

wow that looks awesome although the gs70 is .8 high and that is .98. what would you consider thick?

Under a inch i usually still consider pretty thin for a laptop, i just knew it was thicker than the GS70 you were talking about.

is it noticable when just typing/gaming or only when you actually press down pretty hard(you have to try to force it to flex)?

Typically only if you want to see it flex, not from just a normal wrist resting on it.
